Well, you get the most for such a price. You get a mech that can do just about everything. It's only real competitor is Blackjack, but that is a city fighter.

It's only competitor is the Blackjack sums that up rather well...3025 era tech the Panther is on par with the Vindy. You can do a lot better at 45 tons with a Phoenix Hawk.

Even not being in the beta still wish we had the mech lab to play around with.

my first thought when i seen it for the first time is that looks almost like a mini blood asp! just missing the guns on top i think i found my ride for the game,

all i think i would do to it
lose the ac-5 and a med laser and probably replace the lost tonnage with a PPC for a little spice

The only problem with the Mech: No missiles. =(
Wait a minute...
If we can get the -2X with an unused M.HP and E.HP in the RA... then I can have the standard 4 MLas and AC10 with dual SRM-4s in the RA. Not sure where I could cut tonnage for JJs. >.<
EDIT:
Totally wasn't even looking at heat management. /facehoof
Okey, so take the -2X, cut the armour to 11 tons (from 13), downgrade the LLas to an MLas, upgrade the SRM-4 to an SRM-6, upgrade the AC/10 to an LB-10X AC (one ton cluster, one ton slug), add 2 heat sinks and 4 JJs.
It's mostly heat-stable, leaves the final product as: 4/6/4; 81% of max armour; 1 LB-10X, 3 MLas, 1 SRM-6; 19 max heat, 16 dissipation.
Not amazing firepower, but it's mobile, has pretty thick armour, and is mostly heat stable. Eitehr cut JJ useage every other turn or skip an MLas every other turn and you'll be fine.
EDIT 2:
Oooooooooooooh! If we get the -2X, and if there *is* a second, unused M.HP in the arm, then you can recreate a lighter ON1-VA (with an LB-10X instead of an AC/10, of course).

What kind of crack have you been smoking?

The vindy is a great mech-- it's got a solid punch at all ranges, it runs cool (something the Pixie can only dream of), and it's tough.

Plus, Pixie doesn't even exist (HG always watching).

Yeah, I'm loving this mech too. It's really making me rethink wanting a Catapult as my first mech. I'm thinking of outfitting one in pretty much the same manner as the OP. LB10X plus ERPPC makes for a nice well rounded combatant. Once you use the slugs and the PPC to punch enough holes in their armor, you have LBX crit seeking goodness. Though I'll drop a MLAS for more armor.

I'm glad to see all the love for the Cataphract! We will create a sexy army of Cataphracts and take over the MWO Universe!
In all seriousness though, we appear to all be operating under the same assumptions. Here's to hoping we can slap JJ's on a 'Mech so long as any variants of that 'Mech have them!

I have to admit the announcing of the Cataphract and the Raven are just about the only things that would have convinced me to go Cappellan in my affiliation, maybe I can go Cappellan, buy two of each then turn traitor and join a faction run by, well if not sane, at least less crazy people, like the Blakists.
As for varients, it's got to be -2X for me, it's justsomthing about the LL AC/10 combination, I want the enforcer for the same reason. It's just they have similar range characteristics so you go: target hard to hit, fire LL and save ammunition; heat building up: fire AC and cool down; target at close range: insane laughter and alpha strike.
