Back in closed beta NV mode was this very wicked grayscale affair. It was actually useful in the cave on Forest Colony, and marginally useful in those days when that map was extra extra dark.

Now, I know we don't have proper night maps, but the green/black thing is just .. well .. terrible on my system. Since I figure others might prefer this one, a poll is in order.

IMO: A choice would be sweet as long as the choices could be equitable in some way. Aesthetically and functionally speaking, I found the closed beta Grayscale NV to be vastly superior to the current implimentation. I would really love to have it back, even if only as something I unlock or purchase as a module with fake money units.

What do others think?

I liked both of them, and I'd like to see the greyscale return in some form, preferably as an option or perhaps in a different vision mode. However, I really want the night vision to be actually useful in a dark situation. If you turn on night vision in the cave, you might as well be blind. You literally see more with night vision on caustic valley than in the cave.

Night vision would actually have to be useful for me to care what it looked like :)

Ha! Fair enough. Grayscale was way more useful in the cave on Colony than the current green/black. But really without night maps it is sort of moot. :D

My hunch is that the green/black would be pretty bad on a night map, but that might be a consequence of general contrast issues (smoke/flash/hdr dayglo mechs, etc).

Green & Black reminds me of Night Vision Goggles I used in the Corps. Ah Nostalgia!

Bumpity.

Come' people. Hook up the votes. Every once in a while a thread pops up about how the current NV mode is useless. Let's get one that's good! MW:O deserves a cool and useful NV mode.

Certainly not asking for this to be a development priority, and would be totally cool with it being an advanced module that is unlocked with GXP/C-bills. But let's get something!

Also, if anyone is holding a screen shot of the version of NV that I am talking about, please send me a PM so I can add it to this thread, or just post it up here. I didn't have the foresight to take any when there was an opportunity to do so.

I like the G/B but the night maps are way too shiny, buildings in particular are blindingly bright.

I would love to see vision modes as modules/equipment, but that's probably a bad idea.
