I ran a 5V last night for about 4-5 matches. All but my last match were just depressing, I was running for my life 4 of the matches from streaks.

The only match I was even slightly successful was me putting out 62 damage the whole match, but being a good distraction and a hard to hit target while the other mechs cleaned up the rest of them.

I figured the 5V and the other non-ecm variant were going to be the hardest to play so I wanted to pick one of them up. The 5V would not be terribly bad if the hard points were in the arms instead of the torso, in my opinion.

I think there needs to be a lot more tools for scouts to use to really make the spider's effective.

That's because you don't play it like a commando / raven / jenner.

This one is not fitted for light vs light, all other lights have higher firepower / Ecm / missile hardpoint / armor than the spider.

He's fitted for heavy / assault harassment, and mid/long range support due to his high maneuverability.

You can also play a 5K with :

Endo 255Xl engine
Ac/2 and med laser 4/6 JJ with like 3/4 tons of ammo

Or 200 engine with :
Lb10 or Ac5 or even the ac10 fits in this build u might just have to strip some JJ

The AC/2 or AC/5 jumper is a very funny rooftop sniper build, which allow you to escape to those damn ravens. And you use the environnement to avoid LRMs. Pretty funny to play.

Plus the low profile of the spider is defenitely an excellent pro as a long range support, you're quite hard to hit :D

Lovely. However the reality is that the commando/raven/jenner ARE suited for light vs light combat AND are equally suited if not better at "assault harassment." If you are very lucky and manage to avoid being eaten by another light, you can look forward to a game of teasing away at an Atlas or two and doing a whooping 100 damage by the end of the match. I've been playing as a big hulking Phract and Awesome all day and I tell you the truth, I've been flat out ignoring Spiders until the end of a match. I know they're no threat, so I don't go out of my way to avoid/combat them. They can die after all their friends.

Spider is broken. The devs need to know it.

Well that's not entirely true.

Raven / jenner / commando use loads of srm / ssrm, which make them only hit center torso / spread their damage.

With one of my build you can load dual ppc, or ERppc, both with ECM.

Spider can actually tear appart one location armor then internal way faster than other lights. Which make them more efficident at harassing big dudes.

As an example, most jenner raven have around 20 firepower, but their firepower either end up in the center torso or spread a lot.
A spider can focus 20 firepower on a single spot that's the difference. Which allow them to take down slow mech faster.
I often end up with around 200/400 damage depending on the length of the game, and if i got caught by ravens. Yes raven jenner... often have more damage. But i often end up with 2 kills and 5/6 assist.

In my opinion Spider isn't broken at all. The mech just doesn't fit you're playstyle. It's way different from others light mech gameplay.

Plus you're telling it yourself, people ignore spiders, most of the spiders have very little firepower and most of those played nowadays are a very little threat to other mechs. It's another Pro for the spider, you're not considered as a threat. That often allow me to end up behind other ennemy mechs, being ignored, and just putting those dual ppc in action at their back armor.

Atleast with the 5K you will see buffed MGs in the future, and the possiblity of gimmick builds; I've already seen an LBX-10 Spider. The real loser in this patch is the 5V. Two energy hardpoints in the CT which means there isn't enough space for anything larger than one LPL or two MPL.

I agree the 5V is the weakest of all 3.

I would rather put an ERLL on it, and play it at long range and using it's JJ to get on high grounds to escape being hunted by lights.
