Conquest and Assault are both pretty dull. Just standing on a square that then either gives you a win or some nebulous "resource points" does more to take me out of the game than make me feel like a mechwarrior. We need some honest-to-god missions. Here are some ideas for improving the existing play modes and adding a couple more:

- Assault: One side is assaulting a destructible dropship. The other team is fighting a rearguard action to defend it while it prepares for take-off. If the attackers can destroy it before the timer runs out, they win. If the defenders can destroy all attackers or keep the attackers from destroying the dropship before the timer runs out, they win. Which side attacks and which side defends is randomly determined by matchmaker.

-Conquest: Each "Resource Point Area" should actually do something in game. I'm thinking Mechcommander games here, where you could capture turret controls, sensor towers, gates, etc. One resource point could control a nearby SRM Turret or Pulse Cannon (autofires at nearest enemies while controlled by your side). Another resource could be a sensor network node that extends all friendly mech sensor ranges or defeats ECM in the immediate area. Another resource could be a repair bay! Could be exploited, I know, but you could put a cooldown on it so it isn't constantly repairing. The objective would essentially be to destroy all enemies, but I suppose if you control all the resource point areas you get a win that way, too.

-Escort: One side escorts a vehicle convoy across the map. The other side tries to destroy it. Which side escorts and which side attacks is randomly determined by matchmaker.

...other ideas?
