Hi there everyone, I just wanted to give you all a chance to see the game in a slightly brighter color scale. I'm sure we've all noticed how drab some of the game's environments and mechs can look. Especially in regards to their paint jobs on certain maps. There isn't any gameplay footage. However, I did put together a video that shows in mechlab the difference you can see in the mechs just in there.

I'd recommend putting it to the highest quality and watching in full screen to see some of the edge sharpness improvements and I promise it's actually more obvious when you have it set up. The best part about this is that it has virtually 0 impact on performance. The biggest fps drop I saw while running on the highest settings and recording in stupidly high quality was maybe 5 fps. In non-video recording play the drop is at most 1 or 2 fps for what I think is a noticeable improvement to the game.

The video's description has links on how to set up both film grain removal and SweetFX.

You are my hero. The game looks so much better without their ****** filters.

You can also use sweetfx through the RadeonPro beta now if you have an ati card. It's awesome.

I forgot to mention it, but it's actually possible to toggle the settings on and off like I did by default. There's no additional set up needed. All you do is hit scroll lock on your keyboard to swap back and forth.

Actually, the reason why I go quiet is that while holding down ctrl to capture voice it wouldn't trigger the toggling. Anyway, glad you guys got some use out of this.

So anyone actually try this? How does the gameplay look with it?

I've played games with it and it's what I use all the time to be honest. The game's color scale doesn't go all crazy cartoony and super bright. It also doesn't overwrite -all- the color filters. So if you're on caustic everything has that sickly green cast, but there's a bit more vibrance to the colors. On frozen city it's got a slight white out effect going and there's still fog. But yet again the colors look more realistic. There's not this artificial extra layer of brown/grey on stuff.

It's basically a slight tweak not a complete overwriting of the game's colors. The reason I haven't put up a video for gameplay yet is that when recording it drops my fps from 45 average to 18 fps. So it's basically unplayable and looks like crap. What I'll try and do is to start the game up with the steam overlay if I can, and start taking screenshots. Hopefully pausing in some situations to take it with and without the sweetfx turned on. When I do that I might make a separate thread. If I do I'll post the link to it here guys.

It's definitely sharper and more colorful, if not a bit too colorful. Still looks great, now the game actually looks like a CryENGINE game. I think my framerate actually went up a bit. Thanks a lot :)

No problem guys. There's actually a setting in one of the config files you can tweak to make the color a bit less saturated/bright.

That pastebin with the instructions for sweetfx also has two presets. "more color" and "loads of color" I went with the more color option and only tweaked it slightly higher. There's a few other things you can tweak and edit, but it may make the game look funky if you deviate too much.

Doesn't work for me. Windows 7 64 bit. Patcher loads, I hit Play and a window pops up briefly then disappears. Patcher remains running.

Make sure you put all the files into the "MechWarrior Online" folder and the three files into the Bin32 folder. If your anti-aliasing is turned off, set that one line it described in the instructions to 0.

Here's some 1080p 30fps gameplay on Very High, using the More Color preset.

Just tried this and , wow the 'smudgyness' of the game is reduced quite a bit.

Been using this forever and came to /bump.

Its an incredible diffrence for the better ingame. Vibrance/color settings are subjective but the sharpening effect with DOF turned off is worth every minute you spend setting this up. Would never go back.

One addition I would like to see is the horrendous film grain in night vision removed - it's seriously at a ******** level currently.

The colors don't really change that much; it's the fact that the gray fog/blur effect is removed.
