I am the epitome of a "cautious" Mech pilot. I make conscious effort to not fire when there is chance of a teammate crossing my fire line and when it does happen I always apologize...

We are talking just over 500 matches and I have never Tk'd a teammate... Until tonight. :)

This was not your "oops"... You accidentally got caught up in my focused fire or anything...

I was on River City at night, cruising to lower city with the rest of my team... I was eyes down for a moment setting some weapons groups as we crested the bank and entered lower city. I immediately took a couple hit to my rear armor, I wheel around looking for the culprit and see a Phract with no IFF... I assumed it was an enemy and let loose with trips AC2 and trips LLas and just pour it on... the Phract ducks around a corner and a come around the other side and lay into him again... eventually dropping the mech dead.

This is when I come to notice the barrage of text being sent to the effect that i was flipping nuts and had just fragged a teammate in cold blood! I immediately apologized and pleaded my case that there was no IFF and I mistook him for an enemy but I doubt that gave him any solace...

Even worse I did not even catch the name of the pilot I so rudely accosted... So who ever you are, I'm sincerely sorry for my mistake and hope this little "altercation" does not go down on my permanent record....

I know it's a game but damn if I didn't feel like a right ol' heel... :)

You are obviously a very bad person. Internet Heaven has taken note of your actions, of your callous disregard for virtual robotic life, and has denied you entry to its glorious wonder-dome of virgin pixelated women from here unto eternity.

Jump sniping. This K2 was either shut down or ECM'd by the enemy so I couldn't tell if it was friendly. However it was in the middle of a bunch of enemy mechs and every other allied mech was on my side of the ship. I popped up, saw him thinking he was an enemy under ECM cover until he powered back up and I saw a flicker of blue above his head. Too late, I already shot and it was enough to put him out of his misery.

Ooops.

Wasn't my first, won't be my last.

Mine was when I did 37 damage in a cataphract, it was my first time in one. And the only time I have ever tk'd somebody was when he was getting mulched by a srmstalker, I barely tapped him with a single med las and it finished him off. I am pretty sure he knew it wasnt intentional though and that he knew what my actual intentions were, so not nearly as embarrassing of an event to me as other things.

i hate the people who test the weapons as soon as match starts when everyone's crowded and so often it happens your rear armour is toast.

but the op's situation is that of a lot of confusion and i understand that exact feeling in combat when similler mechs are dancing and one shuts down and you think tht was the enemy who was bothering me and then only after the volley do you see a friendly power up. luckily it's never lead to tk but blowing half a friendly away when you need them to help win the fight feels just as bad.

woe my gaming has responcibilities

i understand this type of pain indeed.

My personal favorite was when I was pew-pewing away with my MLASes on my Centurion at an Atlas when what crosses my line of fire just as I begin to shoot but a Hunchback on my team. Apparently his back had been so punished already that a full beam from my twin MLAS was enough to blow out his CT. That was all his fault though.

The one that was my fault was a few weeks later. I was on an incline in the same Centurion (A CN9-D with stock load out) as had killed that Hunchback. I am firing to support a friendly, shooting over his head with my twin MLAS when I decide that the opponent is just not going down fast enough. At 200 meters (or so) I decide that I can risk a shot with my LBX so I take it. Nine pellets on target and the ONE that misses? Cockpit kill on my teammate. That was a cringer but I still got the kill on the target. I apologized profusely, I felt so bad about that.

I've had a similar issue, although at one point I turned to see what was going on, and I got headshot 40 seconds into the game by a team mate.

I had a night like that once. 3 TK's in one night. Even got a warning from PGI. That was more TK's than I've had the entire time i played MWO before that night. needless to say I am much, much more cautious at what I shoot at now, even to the detriment of my damage numbers.

Until we have a victim willing to press charges, the Comstar District Attorney has opted to conveniently overlook your transgressions. However if the accosted pilot comes forward, some men in blue-hoods will be sent to collect you shortly, and Miranda rights are non-existent in the 31st century, so you might want to lay low for awhile

I did hard time last July for alpha-striking a friendly Jenner. My trial was a complete sham though

I was in my HBK-4G. There was an enemy Awesome a few hundred meters in front of me. I fired my AC20. Cored a friendly Raven from behind when it moved in front of me just when the server decided I had fired.

Much shame was felt.

Most embarassing moment? That is easy...

Frozen City.... PUG is running around like decapitated chicken...
So the great me took command and spread some advice... or better orders...

Bad thing was, while typing all that stuff 3 enemies did flank the ridge unnoticed and stood right in my back. I was hiding behind a building at that moment.
After the first alpha i turned and tried to fight back. After firing once, my lrm cat was ripped to pieces.

I did finish this match dead with !!! 1 !!! point of damage. Zero would have been much better as everyone can find an excuse for zero damage like "OMG Booyaa headshot.. :)".

Ok, my team did win, but when watching the match summary, i wished earth would open up and let me hide in its core...

I did that a few times by accident, yeah, we'll call it that. In the start of caustic valley, a friendly Hunchback was playing with a friendly Stalker popping a few Large lasers into the Stalker's front and the Stalker giving him a reach-around with SRMs to the hunchback, which shutdown quickly after... I snapped a few shots to the head with my ERPPCs and medlasers from my Cent and he went down. then the Stalker light me up with his medium lasers... then I proceed to get 2 ENEMY kills before dying.

then that one time In River City Night, (before they closed off the high hill, ********) when I was going to fire ERPPCs at an enemy target, I just pulled the trigger and a friendly Spider jumpjets right into the shot just after firing, he EXPLODES, does a backflip and then cartwheels down the hill. He was a Clanmate... and he got pissed. I asked what the hell he was doing in a sniper nest as a scout... that shut him up, until he kept rabbling on about "checking your area", bull...sh|t. He was the one that wasn't checking and he paid for it with a glorious burst of light.

yeah, I wouldn't call them Teamkills, just weeding out people who don't know "battlefield awareness". something EVERY ******* MILITARY PERSONNEL LEARNS ON DAY 1.

Man tks happen, I say don't worry about it. If fact my last one was trying to hit a jenner with a LL and I missed initially and hit the guy he was chasing down and killed him. Heh, in fact in that match, I was the only one to kill anyone on my team, enemy team included. It happens, but when it does I say apologize fast, if you realize it.

No shame in killing a Raven! :)

Seriously, as a light mech player myself I know that I will at times be running the gauntlet of fire between friendly and enemy and thus there is always a chance of taking damage.

Can only remember being killed twice by friendly and have unfortunately killed 3 friendlies in just over 950 games. $h1t happens!!

Amateurs, I've scored 3 TK's in one match and killed them in a single pile :)

Lesson: When piloting fast XL Engined-medium, do not run in front of UAC-Muro from behind his shoulder. At least not when he's wrestling w/ Atlas and his cannons are in good mood without jamming.

Yeah one time i sneezed in my srm6 stalker and took out 2 teammates with my alpha in one accidental button press.

So before that I've only ever had one team kill.

then one night i had three kills in one night. not pleased.

I think I have played upwards of 2500-3000 matches sense I got into closed beta. I think I have team killed 5 times.

When brawling with an arm mounted PPC the shot went off target when I dragged the ring over my opponent. The PPC went over the targets shoulder and hit the exposed CT of a teammate circling behind.

I took a long distance shot in 3x zoom at a target in a brawl with a teammate. The FF icons where right next to each other. I hit the friendly when I thought he was behind my target.

Three TKs were do to teammates walking right into my fire paying no attention to what was going on around them.

I might have had one or two more but I dont recall them.
