[Suggestion] Exploding 'mechs

My suggestion is to have 'Mechs that are killed (by another player or due to overheating) explode in a glorious inferno.
Besides looking cool, this should cause a good deal of splash damage to the surrounding area (say 70m radius?).
I suggest this to combat the "face huggers" in the SRM6 boats that simply rush in, alpha, kill, and move to the next poor sap.
Now I know most people are saying "Don't let a SRM boat get close to you and you don't have a problem!" well I agree with this to an extent, however Atlases and other assaults don't exactly have a great track record for speed, and running away from a SRM6 A1 isn't exactly in the cards.
This would also fight against lights/fast mediums that like to get themselves tea-bagged while firing into rear armour.
If you disagree, fine but please provide some type of reasoning beyond "it's not how it works in the TT or IRL". This game is neither.

I also think the shockwave from such an explosion should knock down most mechs along with the damage in the blast radius if they don't die.
infact the bigger the engine the larger the blast radius, and it should affects friend or foe.
This explosion should also be random. It should have like a 25%-30% chance to go critical, adjust the % upon engine size as well.

The fact is, it's not easy getting that close and personal without taking some serious damage already.

I have a A-1 and its one of my favorite mechs. With that said, you would simply need to learn better tactics while attacking with your mech. All the original mechwarrior games had this in them and this one should too IMO. People would just have learn to spread out instead of humping each others legs while trying to move under fire or while attacking.

I like this and could make a good "last resort" strategy, I hate it when I'm left with no weapons but alive and the only thing I can do is sit and wait to be killed, the mechs you destroy this way shouldn't count (you wouldn't get xp or cb) so this would be a 100% "for the team" strategy with no personal gain

the idea is good, but not every time, when a mech is destroyed the reactor explode. You can melt the gyroscope, destroy the internal structure that the Mech is kinking. Not always the shield of the reactor is damaged. The reason to avoid the melee is wrong.
But .... but it would bring variety. The reactor could explode if an AC rips last the unprotected torso. Last Laser melts the gyroscope etc.

Fission reactors explode. Fusion ones do not. read up on fusion engines on sarna.net.
As for the OP, even those bright fireballs were a rarity. Nearly all the time mechs simply slumped over and fell over with ammo being the thing that exploded if anything.
It also is not a good team strategy, you get griefers in teh game using it and that is never a good thing.

It have a reference (with no link) to : TechManual, pp. 36-37, "Fusion Engine Explosions: The Great Myth" and I can't find what this says
I think what you wanted to say was "...MechWarriors fusion reactors do not..." I think a real fusion reactor (if it would be made) would be likely to explode if severely damaged
If I ever get to read the TechManual I will be able to discuss the fusion reactor not exploding, but now I don't know what that says so I can't argue you
I didn't say it's a good team strategy but if you compare
a) not being able to do any damage because you lost all weapons
B) do a kamikaze run against one or more enemies
a is worst than b in terms of strategy
