Stupid question but does hitting someone on your team with a TAG light them up for enemy mechs?

Seriously stupid question.

I only ask because at the start of a match I was pew-pewing my TAG on a teammate and he turned around and TK'd me.

When I said something about it in chat other people on my team told me I was Tagging him for the other team.

I would bet anything this isn't true but I ask just in case there's some sort of bug I'm not aware of.

Apologies to my team if it's true.

Dunno, in any event the guy's an @$$hat for TKing you.
Even if you were TAGing him for the other team, one of them would have to be able to target him for it to have any effect, it's harmless for sure at spawn.

Unfortunately you're the one that got tagged, by a pinhead. TKing is unacceptable behaviour, especially for this helmet-wearing fool that capped you because HE is stupid.

NOES
HE PUT A LAZOR POINTER ONTO ME
IT WAS SHINY
IMA KEEL HIM

What an eediot.

Take his name, and next time tag him with a pile of PPCs. He's earned it.

Report it. It's not like you shot him. You tagged him at the start and I'm pretty sure that the starting points are far enough apart that it shouldn't matter.

Though I haven't throughly tested this, I do not believe a friendly tag lights friendlys up for enemies. Tag didn't used to light up friendlies up until post ecm. I believe what it may do is put a friendly meech that is in an enemy ecm bubble back on friends mini maps.

I've never seen an enemy mech get tagged at the start of the match and people are always waving those things all over the place, so I'm guessing it doesn't work.

Pretty good question. I've seen friendlies TAG other friendlies, but I don't know if it actually has any effect on enemy fire. I wouldn't think so, but maybe it is considered part of 'friendly fire'? If so, all the guys who macro'd their TAG to stay on should stop it!

Even if someone's TAG'd, they still need to be targeted via R by someone with LOS to shot up to other people.

There seems to have been a serious influx of 13 year old kids today. Some ***** probably thought that's how it works when it doesn't.

EDIT: Really? The word i d i o t is censored?

+1 for curiosity on this, I know the icon for being tagged pops up. NARC is another thing to look at for effects on friendlies.

This is the most militant filter I have ever encountered.

In the regular (rpg) game, the frequencies are different so a teammate TAGging a teammate would only make one vulnerable to his teammates missiles. I do not know if this translates to the game here

I would think not, but it is a kind of friendly fire so who knows?

I agree its no big deal, but I would suggest not doing it out of respect and just being cool. I would be annoyed if someone kept zapping me the same as if they did it with a flamer.

TAG tags friendlies right now, it's a 'recent' bug as someone pointed out. The bug came when the TAG got its range extended to 750m.
