With TeamSpeak, we have great in-game voice communication and on the forums, we can read announcements/patchnotes. It would be really cool to see a good community on IRC for MechWarrior Online. For those who need help, it can be the fastest solution for technical problems or in-game mechwarrior mechanics. Although TeamSpeak is great for finding games, some may not have microphones and still want to look for a group. A good IRC community (and exposure of that community with ease of access) helps the user-base quite a bit, especially for teams who want to scrimmage, etc.
The more who join, the better the channel will be. It may not be massive or impressing, but if we can make this IRC channel useful for community it can only benefit.
For those who do not know what IRC (Internet Relay Chat) is, it's basically a very simplified live chat-channel that provides essentials and necessities for communication through text based programs. There is a lot of software out there, some can run in your web browser, such as "Mibbit"
Mibbit MWO IRC Link
A commonly used (and free) software for IRC is mIRC. It allows for a little bit more customization of chat colors/windows. Once you enter a nickname, select the EsperNet server and connect. Then, type:
/join #mwof
to join the channel.
