Free To Play Vs Subscription

I would gladly pay a fair subscription fee per month if it meant i gained access to the majority of the games content (Yes, mind you it is still in Beta content wise.) Couldnt this be an option? Flexibility with paying customers is what sets apart a decent merchant from a good one i say. Im not one who likes to make nickel and dime purchases ill just take it all at once and through one lump sum, so to speak.

Ask Ncsoft or WoT how successful it is ^^ all new models want going that way because you get every1 to pay, even it is just a small amount.
The time for monthly fees are over.. there are to many good games who are "free2play" with massive content and good storys.
The problem for me is... THe games are getting produced and patched for the masses, so there isn´t any hardcore element anymore.
For true fans there should be always a "lifetime" option like in Star Trek Online...

Well other games will give you access to majority of content, plus an extra amount of store credits to use as well per month (Lord of the rings Online) so in that way MC could still be valid. Maybe that is why they dont go subscription based anymore because they know they can make more off of you by letting you buy everything individually, vs a set 15$ a month lets say?

YEAH! becuase that's a great deal, shelling $300 some-odd dollars for a lifetime sub, plus the initial cost of the game (assuming retail release), only for them to make the game free to play, ala SWTOR, and DCUO, or just close up shop entirely. I'm sure those players are incredibly happy with that expense. I can live with having bought the collectors edition of them (I'll view the legendary founder as a collectors edition), i'd be fuming if i dropped money on a lifetime sub.
Proving that true fan is another way of saying true sucker. it's nice to be a fan of a thing and to want to support it, but, don't let that fandom blind you to reality..they're all money grubbing!!!
OP wants a sub for this, just by the MC and put it toward premium, it works out to almost the same thing financially.

In exeption of Hero Mechs( who are for style ) you can get all you want free.
Even i have an Premium Time because i have not too much time and the money left over.

Please say you aren't calling hero mechs pay to win.
how is a 30% cbill increase, and miniscule, and I mean miniscule bonuses to speed pay to win?

MWO can already do what you want... in the other games you mention, free players are locked out of certain content or are limited to numbers of characters etc. and becoming a sub player means you unlock extra content...
in MWO, ALL content is unlocked by default and you can buy extra character (mech) slots for as little as $1... you can also buy premium time which gives you a 50% Cbill and XP bonus to help you buy mechs and equipment
you can buy mechs to skip ahead of buying them with in game money, but real money is not required to gain access to mechs (other than hero mechs, but hero mechs are just the same as normal mechs but with a special paint job and a cbill booster like the one you get with premium time)
basically - comparing MWO to everquest 2 subscription - you already get most of the benefits of the EQ2 sub built in to the free package that MWO offers, and the sub package at MWO gives you more - more ingame money and XP - than free players get
given a choice of paying $5 a month to unlock 2 extra mech bays, or a one time payment of $2... I know which I prefer
