Really Just wanted to start out that Most of the time I come to the forums and its grief after grief after Troll so I wanted to start off on another foot.

I really need some direction as what mech to choose next. I have Mastered the Cents and love them to Death, I have Masterd the Cataphracts and meh only the 4X is ok and I do good in it. I thought about using this weekend to master the Commando or Raven but they are so OP that is really not fun so What mech is closest to The Cent play style and I do not care to LRM as that is about as borring to me as it gets but Great for others. I dunno I might just do the Hunchies but they do not appeal to me so much.

I love this game and hope in time it matures, My Wife is out of town, 14 inches of snow on the ground and I don't go back to work until tommorow afternoon so time to get my grind on.

I picked up all the cents when OB opened and loved them as well. I've not really ever found anything that plays quite the same. The hunchbacks seem a little fragile in comparison and seem a little slow too. Dragons are good and with an XL 350 they go about 95kph XL 300 around 80 or so I think. Maybe it's just me, but the convergence in the arms on the dragon make it really difficult to hit stuff with. I'll play cent and hit most of my main weapon shots, probably 75-80% even in circling duels, but with the dragon I hit maybe every 5th shot. Not sure why I'm missing so much. Standing still it's fine, but with movement it really loses accuracy. Not sure if it's me or the mech.

Although if it were me I'd go a completely different direction. It sounds like you don't buy a ton of mechs and have a high level of mastery on the ones you have, so it sounds like you have some cash to spend. If you do, you may want to look into running something like a catapult.

Catapults were my second mech I maxxed after the cents and the catapult group quickly became my favorite and I never looked back. I ran a 6XSRM6 A1 back when all the A1 were Streakats and that's a blast. Like hitting someone with a sledgehammer. The C4 gives a better mix because you still have some torso weapons for if you lose the ears. The C1 has the 4 energy points that you can run 2LL 2ML and 2SRM6 which is a favorite of mine. Another way for the C1 would be 4 MPLAS and SRMS or 4 MLAS and LRMS. I've seen an A1 run with 2 LRM 15s and 4SRM4s too and that was pretty effective. LRM platform, but you can really surprise someone out to hunt a defenseless LRM boat.

Good hunting,
Kurshuk

Try Catapult or Hunch. Hunch is closer to Cent I suppose, but both are very versatile. Just great all-around chassis for both mechs.

Hunch can carry similar or identical weapon load outs, but has it's main damage dealing weapons in the hunch. This lets you shoot over ridges, that the Cent can't, but makes you much easier to disarm. XL's are not such a bad choice for Hunch's as they are for cent's, since you lose ~90% of your firepower with the hunch anyway.

Catapult's are fun for brawling, but people will hate you.

Dragon is like a heavier, faster Cent, but it's hitbox actually matches it's model correctly, and it has that horrible CT that stick out ahead of you, so you'll die quick since you can't knock anyone down right now.

Atlas is very similar to Cent, but scaled up. bigger, more armor, more weapons. Slower though. very, very different play style.

+1 to the Dragon suggestions. I find they play similar to the Centurions (hit and run style).

One thing I notice is as a Centurion or Dragon I am largely ignored in mass brawls especially if I am doing the hit and run style right. As a Cat or Hunchie enemies will focus you down more. There aren't a lot of Cent/Dragon builds which are scary (wrongly IMHO). I think most people see a Cat or Hunchie and think "kill it quickly" in case it is a SRM boat or laser boat respectively..

Thanks for the advise from the 4 that did reply and to the 171 that viewed, Guess you get to meet the nast end of my Wang or possibly the Beast of a Catapult-C4 with 4xSRM-6 ARTY's and 2 ML'S that I chose to buy, The dealer warned me it was a Hammer. WOW this almost is to Easy, where is the HardCore mode for some excitement.

Guess Catapult will be my next series to Master and I seem to really like the way it handles, funny thing is I love to attack the CPLT with my cents and find them cake. Well time to get busy, I got a bottle of Don Julio Tequila and the Snow is plowed so Game On.
