Do Ballistic Cannons Work Like Missile Tubes?

For example, my atlas d has 2 ballistic hard points that currently have 2 ac2's. In battle I have them both under the same button. Since there's visually only 1 cannon, is it firing both?

I think this would be the wrong example. If you equip 2 SRM6s in a mech with 6 tubes, the 2 SRMs also fire together. If you pack an SRM6 into an 4-tube launcher, it fires salvos of 4 and 2.

The interesting question is - does LB10-X AC behave differently depending on whether you use an AC/2, AC/5, AC/10, AC/20, Gauss or LB10-X AC tube?
I don't know, but someone mentioned recently that it might be so. But I never really looked for it.
