So far I've had fun with all my medium mechs going for Basic, Elite, then Master...safe for the Centurion 9AL. So I plan to sell it, but when can I do this?

I currently have him at 8/8 Basic and 4/4 Elite, with my Centurion 9A the same. Only the YLW (currently 8/8 basics) is left to have three full Elite variants for that chassis.

Can I sell the 9AL...

1.) Now and have him still counted as variant that qualifies for getting the other two to Master?

2.) Later, only when also the YLW has achieved 8/8 and 4/4 so that Master is unlocked for all 3?

:)

You need 3x Basic for one Chassis to unlock Elite.
You need 3x Elite within the same weight class to unlock Master.

You can sell mechs you don't want after unlocking Basic.

-> When you already have 3 other mechs of the same weight class with Elite, you can sell all unwanted mechs after Basic is complete.

One thing to add is that once you've elite'd three of one chassis type of a weight class, you can move to master on another chassis in this weight class without having to elite all 3 of that specific chassis (still need to fulfill basic level on all of them)

So basically:
3 X Stalker on Elite
3 X Awesome on Basic -> One Awesome now can move up to Master without having to bring the 2 others to Elite.

EDIT:
Moved this thread to the general guides sub forum, where it is more appropriate.

If you intend to Master one variant of a chassis i.e 1 catapult, you MUST Elite 3 Catapults. Once a Catapult is Elite, you may sell it.

Wait...I don't think that is true, or is it? I know it says exactly that in the tooltip ingame. But unlocked efficencies qualify by being able to click on them and get their description, isn't it?

So...I have three Hunchbacks with Elite at 4/4, but only two Centurions. The last one, the Yen-Lo-Wang, has Elite unlocked, but none of the Elite efficencies activated, yet. AND I cannot click on it's Master efficency.

If this works I could not safely sell my Centurion 9AL. But if not and I sell him...I would have to start leveling him up again, not to speak of the costs to repurchase him. :)

So...are you ubsolutely sure?

You need Elite of a certain Variant to unlock Master for this variant. You should be able to skill Master for the other 2 Centurion Variants without 4/4 Elite on YLW.

If you sell a mech, you keep all the piloting skills.

----------

You have 3 Hunch + 2 Cent with Elite? -> 5/3 Elite
You can now buy any medium mech chassis, skill Basic for 3 variants and then skill Elite and Master for your favourite one.

Right...simplest test in the world and I was not getting it! :( YES, of course that works. Now I'm finally convinces...and feel a bit silly for leveling that 9AL. It's definitely not the worst mech in the world, but still rather lacking when compared to any of my other mechs. Even with the YLW.

Thanks. :)
