It seems to me that the Centurion is ridiculously tough for a 50 tonner. Both for the armor and IS. Am I the only one?

Is there an explanation for this?

I run mine Cent right now with 304/338 armor. It does seem to really take a beating, especially if the armor is maxed. I read the shield gives 100 or so more points of damage, like free armor, and you should try to keep the shield toward enemy and learn to shoot over it with the arm. Not sure that's an accurate number but the shield supposedly does absorb some damage.

ETA here it is about the shield

http://mwomercs.com/...nturions-guide/

"If you consider you're able to use your left arm as a shield, that basically give you 32 "Free" points of armor to use as a soak at any given time."

An experienced Centurion pilot would effectively use the shield arm to take as much incoming fire as possible. Not mentioning that even if the armed arm is lost too, there're still plenty of weapon left in the torso.

Always try to aim for the torso when fighting a Centurion.

Yes, Centurions just won't die, LOL! I don't know how many times I've blown both arms and torsos off a Cent yet it was still running around ******* CT lasers at me. It's annoying and hilarious in equal measure.

The whole advantage of using a Cent is its incredible staying power. The shield arm (or arms if you aren't rocking an AC) combined with the skinny centre torso let a decent Cent play soak a lot more firepower than you might think a medium would be able to. Sometimes if I see a competent Cent player torso twisting all over and rocking a lot of SRMs or using the AC, I'll aim for the legs instead. Might be faster to try and cripple him or get an ammo explosion than to work through the shield arm and side torso and such.

With a CN9 avoid the XL engines.
There is something pleasurable about the laughter from team mates when you turn up to help cap a base with no arms.
I've run out of witty remarks to shoot back at the wonderful comment; "What happened to you then?"
"Guess!" is as good as I can now manage!
Centurion gets stuffed just like any other mech, but I do feel opponents go for the gun arm and then seem to concentrate on something more dangerous.(?)
I enjoy my A and my AL. Dreading the D and don't want to go the YLW road.
Happy hunting! ;)

It's like a Hunchback, except it's not as important, and a Centurion will still have more weapons left over.

Glad it's not just me. I checked the armor values on the medium mechs thinking it got a bit more than it's brethren Nope, HB has 338, and Dragon has 402. I think I will start legging these ********. Their speed and resilience make them absolute devils on the battlefield.

The CN-9D is a lot of fun if you drop a 350xl in it.

Not completely necessary of course, you can still run a std engine in it, but it sort of defeats the purpose.

It's the zombie potential and I love it. You can still run around shooting people with 2 medium lasers with just one leg, a CT, and a head. A lot of Cent pilots will also use a "floating shield spot". Did you lose your AC arm? Well you can use your RT to protect your center...same with the LT if you have no missiles or are out of ammo. Heck I may a build for my CN9-A that's just SRM6s and 2 medium lasers so I I've got two "shield arms". Now if only there were physical attacks.....I would smack people with my shield hand!

If there was physical, it would be your Hatchet hand.

I rather like my CN9-D backbiter with a Std 300.

I was referring to the Centurion's survivability. It may be benefiting from incorrect damage transfer currently.

Not really a bug, it's outside factors.

Non-XL Centurions have always been hard to kill. I have had several Centurions, and fought lots also, the CT is really, really thin.

The center torso is hard to hit. Think about it.
A stalker gets max CT armor of 122, split between front and back. A blind man could hit that big nose. Again and again.
A cent only gets max CT armor of 64, split between front and back. But the hitbox is way smaller, and cents tend to avoid getting shot in the back, so they put more armor in the front.

Or, you can do it the hardcore way - like I always do - by bringing a larger 'Mech and/or a larger gun and BLAST ALL THE WAY TO DAT CT.
