recoil for a 105mm (little over 4") shell.

Watch, then look at the AC lineup (inc. LB 10-X). Recoil should be minimized on HBK-4G, Atlas, or any other mech specifically designed of big AC. Weight, AC size, and body location (more jerking cockpit side to side if AC is on an arm) should affect how much the screen shakes. Impact on a target within the effective range should also knock the cockpit around more. When the mechanic to knock down a mech gets added back-an AC/20 should be able to knock down a light mech with a leg shot. The AC is a force of impact weapon, and without that force the gauss is just too much better (and a HBK-4G really does deserve a good way to defend against lights).

It could be easy enough to map a script trigger for the screen shake of being hit by a weapon to firing them as well. It shouldn't drastically change play for most people, just enough to make it harder for lights who use big guns. This would also help make up for the lack of a mechanic in the mechlab to limit max slots of a hard point-which would prevent giant guns on little mechs in the first place.
