No body does it, and I'm told I'm waisting a drop slot when I do it, and, afterwards, my score tells me I'm a pointless.
Are we waiting for 36 vs. 36 for this to be a worthwhile role in game?

In pugs you'll always be told recon is worthless. And it's sort of true, the teamwork isn't always there. The only time recon is useful is if you can get a semi premade (you and a buddy at least) or if your scout is able to win a 1v1 alone, so that you're not a burden.
Recon is mostly in organized play, where it plays a decently important role. Alone in a solo que right now... I rarely see them.

wow really? that's shocking to me. I play recon in our team games and actually have my friends trying to take that role from me. Maybe your team composition doesn't allow it or tactics don't suit it? Otherwise beats me.

Recon is now worthless due to ECM. The minimap doesn't get updated because ECM works as a cloaking device somehow. PGI really dropped the ball on this one as a whole class of 'mechs are pretty much useless at their intended role.
