Its actually 120[-3F] vs 60, much worse twist on all other Stalkers.

I knew 85 vs 60, maybe they changed that (I've parked my stalkers for a while, I just remember than zeroing to map I could twist right up to 85 with the 3F and 60 with the others).

A 275 Engine is quite useable, though the 3F probably needs the extra 25 to fully use the extra twist.

Yes 275 (or 280 from a phract) are usable, but 300 is probably the only truly usable engine. Sadly AWS's can't neither reach 300 due to their silly 240 :)

It's true, but as far as I can tell only viable in a few cases, and I can only cite one. So far the only build I've found that gains more than they loses is LLas x5. Every other viable weapon platform was better optimized (max/sustainable dps) with a std300 for brawlers, or if you really need the tonnage the xl (missileboats/PPC platforms). If there are any specific builds you feel work better with a 275 however, I'm listening, and will gladly add it to my growing master list of viable build mechlab links I'm compiling.

I use my 5M for 4x LL, 3X SSRM2 (in torsos). And 1 ML in the center energy slot for backup. Best use of the 5M hardpoints imo.

3H for dedicated LRM boat. You don't need Torso twist or the extra energy slots if you are boating, so you give up useless items for useful missile tubes.

If I were to make a brawler 3F would be the varient to go for. I like the 5S for utility / support. Just say no to XL engines in Stalkers, no exceptions! Use the 255 XL in a spider instead :D

@Degalon
Did you play the 3F for a good number of your games and how much mech exp do you have on it?

If you have played it and have a decent amount of mech exp this is probably the mech to get to maximize your time spent. The extra torso twist is really nice too.

I went with the Stalker 3F for my first mech. It was the trial mech at the time so I did my grinding in it and got to use the mech exp I gained in the trial when I bought my own mech to get the 2 heat related mech skills which seemed to help. This really maximized my limited play time since I was able to use the mech exp.

Other then that it really comes down to what you want your Stalker to do.

3F better torso twist brawler
3H 20 missle tubes in arms for LRM boat
5M 5 missle slots but one is a narc tube makes a good SRM boat with that extra missle slot.
5S 2 AMS

I still have to figure out what I want to buy for my 2nd and 3rd Stalkers to get my elite skills but that is a pretty long way off. Maybe they will make a hero Stalker 3Fb.

My 3F, Stock

2 Medium Lasers
2 Large Lasers
4 Streaks + 2 tons ammo
All Heatsinks

I'm stuck with zero upgrades so I'm forced to fill every space almost with heatsinks

edit. I also like sometimes to try 6 Medium lasers to mix it up. Still working on best combo because I originally wanted the LRMs mentioned earlier in this thread
