im at 8.5mill and getting close to getting my first atlas. iv been having most interests in getting either as7-d-ddc or as7-rs? i like being in the front lines of a fight, and taking hits while throwing out lots of fire power.

Nothing beats the AS7-D-DDC. Why? ECM of course. I say that with a mastered founders AS7-D and a mastered AS7-D-DC and an elite AS7-RS.

Unless you REALLY like energy weapons than maybe the K but last I heard the dual AMS are still non-functional so there is no point.

Personally, I LOVE the ballistics so AS7-D-DC would be my choice even without the ECM.

EDIT: The ECM on the Atlas isn't anywhere near as OP as it is on the Raven 3L or even that Commando whatever it is. Having said that it does make you a sneaky elephant, and if you're patient and smart you can out flank people and catch them off guard at point blank. That's where it shines.

ddc. has more ballistics, missile and ECM. Bit unfair TBH.

DDC. It has ECM. The others don't.

That's all you need to know :-).

Atlas K.
It's the most expensive because it's the most powerful.

Meh. It comes with a 300 XL and 2x AMS otherwise it's the AS7-RS. ;P

Pre-ECM I always liked the Atlas-D with it's balanced set of hardpoints. It could be easily set up for multiple roles and with the 2x CT energy slots you could keep killing with those last energy weapons when the the arms and side torsos were gone, well as long as you remembered to keep the standard engine.

The Atlas-DDC is still very strong without ECM since the 3 missile hardpoints, 2 ballistic and 2 energy in the arms give it plenty of firepower. Even if all the weapons are gone it is still useful with the ECM.

With the current state of the game the Atlas-DDC would be a very good choice for your first Atlas.

D-DC first, but if you intend to master the chassis I'd take a look at the K since it comes with 'free' XL300 which is very useful for number of mechs.

DDC.

I have mastered the DDC, D, and RS variant.
Trust me, once you have felt the incredible advantage ecm gives you for such tiny costs, you don't want to pilot any atlas but a ddc.
Don't even think about buying a K if you don't want to use the xl engine on a other mech

Before you do anything stupid, also remember that XL engines are the most powerful piece of gear in the game. That's why they're so expensive.

Speed beats everything. There's a reason 8 manz is dominated by atlases with XLs and crit-seeking LBX guns.

I don't play 8-mans only PUG but LBX-10 is terrible. 1 AC/20 > 2x LBX-10. Sure, LBX-10 has more range but it's like throwing a handful of pebbles at them, even with 2. It's only good when you're touching them, and even then the AC/20 is more accurate and puts all its damage where it hits.

Normally I find your trolling boring, but for some reason this really made me laugh.

DDC with:

ECM, 2LL, 3SSRM2, AC20 (good for killing those annoying ECM lights)

or

ECM, 2ML, 3SRM6, AC20 (makes stuff explode in front of you in a way which is quite surprising)

Of course, you can always use it as an LRM boat, but that seems a bit of a waste. Versatile chassis, anyway.

For me, personally, no. Not right now, not with the modules currently available. ;)
