Hello fellow pilots

This is my HBK-4H - Gauss Ambusher.I'm pleased of it,but there is something I'd like to improve - 20 Gauss rounds is too low,I'd like to add 10 more.
But I have a problem as I have no tonnage available, and I've no idea how to free it.Everything seems to be needed, medium lasers, heatsinks, engine (already so small),armor....
Please help me with some advices how to free one ton in this build.

Theres only so many ways to free up tonnage and the only one left for you is XL. Some time its better to change gun. Getting an ac/10 instead of gauss would free up some slot and 3 tons for ammo and stuff.

Lower leg armor to 22, you won't see any difference

(I run 16, hunches don't die from legging) they can of course, but you won't.

If you dont have heat problems, drop a dual heatsink. Otherwise go for the leg armor trick and hope no one notices.

I run a similar Hunchback H, and it's perhaps my most effective mech. The main problem with your design is that 64kph is too slow for a medium mech, making it harder to survive, harder to setup the ambush you are rightly after, and harder to find time to cooldown. Embrace the XL engine! Also, adding a 5th Medium Laser will make you significantly more punchy and is definitely worth it even if it doesn't add any sustained firepower.

Try something like this:
HBK-4H

Oh, and I leg hunchbacks all the time -- it's especially hilarious when they strip leg armor as they just evaporate. I wouldn't drop to less than 30 or so, as that's just counting on your opponents playing poorly. You can generally get away with less than 39 though! I'd still strip arm armor first though.

Everyone has there own style, but I find xlnengines much more fragile than lowering leg armor. I literally have been legged one time while I still had my hunch, legging is just not prevalent in mwo from what I have experienced. I will agree, that 64 is too slow.

The advantage of lowering leg armor is, it's free to experiment with. I would also try small lasers. The beam length helps you focus the damage more easily?

I vote for a couple of small lasers. That will give you the tonnage for another 10 rounds, while still providing some up-close firepower if you need it.

I would start like this

3mlas, gauss, 3ton ammo, 225 standard engine. No additional heat sinks. Leg armor at 32(overkill, I run every mech I have around 20)

You can't pure brawl using only lasers, you will over heat, but if you rely on your gauss, you are fine. I run mine with ac20, and 235, no additional heat sinks and have few issues. Remember, best bang for buck are engine heat sinks. That's why I upped it to 225, you get an additional full 2.0 value heat sink.

If you lose your gauss, you also lose one laser, so heat is not an issue then.

Thats my 4h light hunter. Goes around 92kph with tweak. The lbx plus lots of lazorz scare the crap out of most light. your not fast enough to chase the fastest light but it will keep em away from the stalker and all them clumsy fat bastage of your team. If your heavy and assault feel safe and focus on the thing they should instead of strugling with the fast pesty raven, then your on your way to victory. But if your not into light hunting this build might not be your cup o tea. It does heat up quite a bit you might prefer switching 3 med to smalls and add heatstink

Example on legging. Just played 10 matches. Killed 7 times (not my best night so far) cored 7 times, zero leggings. I then watched 7 other mechs till match ended. None of those were legged. Im telling you, it simply doesnt happen, even though players keep saying, I cant wait to leg you.

Oh, I run 16 armor on both legs. never got worse than orange.

I'd say drop a heatsink. You'll still be very heat efficient with one less.

Thanks guys.I was thinking the best solution is to lower leg armor a bit,I'm glad you've confirmed that

@4lex
Mate,XL engine on a hunchback with hunch, especially if it contains gauss is a VERY bad idea.
About LBX build - that's was my 1st 4H setup,LBX and 5 medium lasers...ahh,sweet 1st rookie steps in MWO world
