Hey all, got a Audigy XtremeGamer 7.1 right now which has great surround sound, but doesn't seem to allow me to record audio that might be playing into anything more than 2.1 stereo.

Can anyone recommend a good card that allows for great playback as well as 5.1+ recording? (When I capture MWO footage, I want to capture in 5.1 or better)

The sound depth and quality between 2.1 and 5.1 is tremendous IMO. As for gaming, having a rear left and right channel has saved my bacon COUNTLESS times.

But when I go to record from my computer, even if something is playing in 5.1 with a channel out to each speaker, it's always truncated into a 2.1 recording, so when it's played back, it just duplicates the front left/right onto the rear left/right. A loss of a lot of quality.
