Has there been any talk about the ability to change your pilot name? For a fee or not I would like the option to be there. Thoughts/ info?

I was just wondering the same myself. I didn't realize spaces were allowed when I made my pilot. I'd be happy to pay a reasonable fee for it. Not a big concerned but would be nice.

I heard somewhere that they are planning something where you will be able to change your name.

This was the latest thread I found on this topic, so posting here.

I really hope they add this feature, in fact, I am not going to invest any more time in this game until the issue is resolved one way or another. I really want my name changed, but I also do not want to change the email address this account is on. There are a couple ways they could solve this:

1. Allow in account name changes for a nominal fee. I would be happy with this as it would ensure I keep everything I've built up so far.

2. Allow for deletion of accounts. This would allow me to wipe my char and start over on the same email address, but then I'd lose everything I worked for to that point.

3. Change the dang account method to NOT be tied to an email address. I can't stand this practice as it is just one more way our emails get hacked! Create custom accounts and then make our em addy a property of them, along with the pilot name. I don't want a thousand email addresses for each game I play.

I understand the intent to keep consistency in names of players. It's not good to flame people on forums or in the game and then hide behind a name change, but there needs to be a way to do it. I would prefer in-game currency, but the standard practice in most online games is to make it a pay-for option, and that is fine.

EDIT: But I'm putting the game on the shelf until this issue is resolved one way or another, or the game gets so good that I don't care anymore. Take your pick.

E-mailed support about this today, was told this in reply.

"Currently the only name changes we are making are based on these specific situations: typographical errors, inappropriate names, and players who are uncomfortable because they used their real name as their pilot name.
We do have plans to eventually put in place the option for players to make name changes via the website forums."

That "eventually" makes me think we'll be waiting a long time. Also sucks that players who picked inappropriate names get rewarded with the ability to change names, but those of us who picked normal ones have to wait.

I'd like to change my name too. when I created the account I thought the user name would be different then the character name (like most MMO's) but when I saw you could only have one account per e-mail and could not delete it I left it alone since I didn't want to create another e-mail address just for this game.
