I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a fan/user made community warefare, while we wait for the real thing. I was thinking a fictional space map with a planet representing each map. Teams would schedule 8 v 8 drops and report back to me the outcomes and I could update the map. It could be an interesting way for me to stay connected to MWO while I don't have a the ability to play with my low fps machine.

Anyone interested? Is this already being done?

Spence

** I would say we're probably going to wait for the real thing. But, it would be a neat!

I would check in with the House boards for the factions to see if they have anything like this in the works. A lot of the old guard got pretty good at this sort of thing when playing some of the older MW games online, and MPBT had a pretty robust fan-run war system too. Today's Q&A did give some hope to the topic, though, and it looks like we'll be getting more concrete stuff later this year.

On second thought it might be too much to try to get a planet to represent each map while the map is not selectable. So the star map would just have planets and the teams would consider their target planet to be fought on which ever map came up. Another feature we can have is tracking a teams dropship in space. A team can only move a certain distance in a day. This can all be very simple with a grid like this:

ex: Firebirds dropship landing on planet at 8A Attacking Redsuns Dropship factory. Planet undefended attack is succesfull

I would need two or three people volunteering to update the map. Notes of where people are.
We could have things like players can build factories on their planets to build extra dropships. Would take some thought but it sounds fun to me.

This could also be done, perhaps with more realistic diagonal movement on a hexagonal map like this:

I wouldn't want to physically update the map though. The information would be written.

Yeilding I get enough players, yes, yes I will do this. I would need three teams of eight to make it interesting, and I'd likely be able to support nine entrees. I would also need volunteers to update the map. On my own I think I could do it reliably about once a day. Also this would be a limited run perhaps only two weeks.

Update now it has pinpoint coordinates and planets. For example planet R is at O-9.
