because I dont really have time ill just write out what I have. 3lrm 15's,4 medium lasers,Tag, Ams, and std 270. When in a match I dont rush in. I try to find the targets without getting to close. It seems like they over run my team mates and with that they come for me. ill probbably be looking to get the 3F because Right now my torso twist ability is terrible.

If you wish a wingman to either TAG targets or watch you back, just friend me in the game. If I'm on I don't mind helping. I have a Spider and a Stalker I wish to level up some and would work good as an aid either way.
I really think that the Hunchback is you best choice right now for an alternative mech. Has the missiles, speed, armor and can mount enough defensive lasers to protect you from charges. (I'm also thinking of rebuying my hunchback, so I could run that with you as well.)

Could also use a raven 3L for ECM and LRMs (or any raven really but ECM would help hide you), Catapult, or several other mech types.
That's a fair point, actually. The SP makes such a great brawler that I never think of it as a missile boat. And either varient will be lunching all missiles in two volleys so that wouldn't matter much.
@Darknight, Lasers do their damage over time. So the longer you hold them on your target the more damage you do. They are also more effective if you can hold them on the same component for their full beam, rather then painting them all over the mech and spreading the damage around. If you find you have a shakey hand you might try putting some medium or small pulse lasers in, instead of the standard mediums. MPLAS, way more, SPLAS do less damage. Both generate more heat but the do their damage in 3 short bursts so you'll be doing more damage per burst than shaking the standard beams all over.
Another mech you might look into would be the C1 or C4 catapults. They have excellent twist and can be pretty speedy compared to a Stalker. Also they have far less issues running XL engines. Still I say give them all a go.

I'd have to strongly disagree with this build. It just works off the ease of SSRMs, doesn't have the range the OP is asking for in his build, and if you come across an ECM mech, you are screwed.
Not to mention I have slowly been building a strong hate to the ease of SSRMs and their continual use on ECM builds specifically (or someone loading up with them). I don't mind SSRMs in general, but when that's all you are boating, it gets annoying fast. (Coming from a Cicada pilot who is tired of mechs half my tonage ripping me to shreds upon contact. I'm a good pilot and can give them a run for their money, but no matter how good I am, a one on one with a Streakmando/Streakraven and my Cicada and they will win almost every time.) I think the inbalance is that SSRMs are being loaded into builds with ECM, and Artimis helps SSRMs but cost you no weight to get it in your SSRM mechs.
Anyways, away from my tangent, the guy is looking for long range support builds, not a close range build. I personally suggest any combo of medium lasers and LRMs for this effect. If you can, break down the LRMs into several smaller systems across the mech. That way, if you loose a side, you aren't being wasted and become useless. I still suggest the 3F for it's better load out (and more missile slots) as well as it's better torso twisting motion, but if you can't afford that, you work with what you got.

And sorry, I thought I had the 5M. I have the 4N which was throwing my suggestions off a little. (And working on the Kindle with the Mechlab wasn't very user friendly shall we say?)
The LL have a max range of 900 and have less heat then PPC/ERPPC/ERLL you could use the ERLL w/1320 range but most battles take place at less the 500.
Also the 5 SSRM's are great when there is no ECM or it's being jammed.

I'm going to have to agree to disagree on this one. Take SRM6s instead and do some real damage that might require some aim. Also, the OP said long range support, which SSRMs do not count as, and though Large Lasers have range I think he is more in favor of indirect fire support rather than direct line of sight fire power.
Also, SSRMs are a bit cheesy and can be even more risky than LRMs in the presence of ECM. And boating mostly SSRMs can be highly risky and be very cheesy to anyone else. All you did was remake the famous Streakcat as a Stalker. The Streakcat that most players don't like and most of us are sick of seeing and has been admitted to being a cheese build. I wont say streaks require no skill, but they don't need much skill to us, compared to non-streak builds. Even LRMs require more skill to use.
So, my point is, between my two points this build does not belong being presented in this thread. It isn't what the op is asking and looking for.

I still invite you to play with me if you ever wish to. My Stalker loves to hang out with LRM boats. People always confuse me as one.

I got ya.. still a bit gun shy about grouping because I admit to being terrible. So at this point I dont have the stalker anymore ....... I may buy another but It was just way to slow so I have to catapults atm ... I know everyone is thinking why the heck did you see the stalker.. Truth is the torso twist is just amazing in the cat. So i think when I get more c-bills I may get a different stalker.

I don't care what your skill level is. We all had to learn sometime and I'm not the greatest pilot around. I'd say I'm good, but not great. I don't get home for another 4 hours though. Plus a team stands a better chance.

Welcome to MWO,
I built this mech with the viewpoint that, If you can drive, you cannot aim, hence, why I came up with the following build.
<a href="http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=46&l=97b169309aaea53cc04667674646a47730d5d317">STK-5M</a>
This has 2 LRM racks of 15 so you can tenderize from afar, and then the large laser combo so you can pinpoint damage where required.
The 3 streaks are and 3 mpl's are for when things get up close and personal, which will deter any lights from getting in your way, and if you chain them you can virtually fire them forever.
Alternatively, you can swap out the mpl in the torso for a tag, which will make targeting ecm pests easier, or use your increased backpedaling to move into the 200 yard range
Good luck
