My hat is off to the devs for this very well composed set of answers. Way more answers than I could have expected. I am excited to see the new changes, though I hate waiting lol.

Q: Is your team discouraged at all by the community outrage?
A: It hurts, and you are always amazed at how nasty people can be. Some days you don’t want to deal with it. But you suck it up and try and understand why someone would call you an ***** or *******, or threaten you. I can’t tell you how many people complain, yet play dozens if not hundreds of matches a day, and spend significant amounts of money. I generally don’t take it to heart any more, especially when comments come from someone who has 100s or 1000s of posts. It’s the guy who has 1 post that I’m worried about. It took something significantly good or bad for them to come and make a post, and we tend to listen to them more carefully. And before you all go off about not listening to the core fans, we still listen to you as well.

In the end, we always try our best to have compassion and see through the screen in hopes of understanding why people say the things they do. The CR team in Montreal are truly amazing people that deal with a very vocal and passionate user base, taking lumps left and right with little to no thanks. (IMHO you need to start a thank you CR team thread. Hint Hint)

Ive always been nice, and i have a high post count :D (Or atleast for when i was active in the forums)

Thank you for finally posting mostly thorough answers to many of the community's questions.

I believe that a lot of this emotion that you are seeing comes from the passion that many of us feel towards Mechwarrior because we have played it in some form or another since childhood, but we just came out of a 10 year absence of any new game (I'm part of the younger generation most familiar with Mechwarrior only in video games). I personally fear the failure of the MWO project and another "dark age" because of how some aspects of this game have been handled, especially your communication with the community. Not in the sense of arguing with the ****** that get on here and whine, but in the establishment of a thorough content roadmap, the ability to consistently meet those deadlines, and when you can't, the clear communication that you haven't and why. I myself have spent a little over $150 to help towards this new game in a series I love, but I can't spend any more money without an uptick in the dependability on your end and in the stability of this game (and I refuse to pay big money for a single mech when I remember expansion packs for cheaper that gave me at least 4 mechs).

Again, thank you for this post that many of us have been waiting on and best of luck in your work in the coming months.

My work here is done.

*ZOOM!*

So is Alpine just a revision of FROZEN CITY or a completely new map? Will it appear "earthly" or will it look like it's on a different planet?

Why wasn't Alpine released this month?

Wasn't 'desert' supposed to be released this month?

Will these be the final two maps for 2013?

The lack of maps is cause me fits. I'm SO frickin' sick of the 4 we have I won't play again until the two maps are released, nor will I buy any more MC until I see the maps. I hope they don't look like 'earth', or I'll be quick to uninstall the game forever.

There were some early satelite views of the maps in work somewhere - probably unofficial - and they be new maps.

I just wanted to say thank you. Although, there are a few things I wish could come sooner it's good to at least see light at the end of the tunnel.

I was kind of expecting 2-page+ essays on each question you answered. :D

Thanks PGI for all this good information.

I am especially happy to hear that CW is a big focus at this point. I believe this to be the biggest reason most of us are so excited about MWO. This will also help give us a sounding board to get more new/old people into the game.

This was a really, truly outstanding update. Just wow.

Even when you say "sorry we're not working on that right now", to me that's huge information because it helps us manage expectations and not look forward to something that is a ways out. DX11 is a great example of this. It's nice to know not to scan the patch notes waiting for that update -- it's been pushed. Understood, makes sense, and thank you for the heads up. That's just one example.

Really great post. Thanks a lot.

Excellent job actually addressing all of the pressing questions being asked. I don't care that not all of them are the answers I want, just having the conversation is good enough.

Thank you. I desperatly want this game to make it I have been playing some form of BT/MW for over 20 years, I hate to think of a world completely without it.

Not completely thrilled about all the answers, but thank you very much for being frank with us. Should quiet some of the accusations about the lack of communication from the dev team.

This, with major emphasis. Just level with us, most of us can handle it and those who can't...well...joke'em if they can't take a...er...on second thought, nevermind that. :D

In all seriousness, thanks for the effort and the straight answers.

My thanks - but as others have mentioned a number of things have simply raised more questions as there was little context given with the answer.

The JJ one Garth answered more fully which is great - thanks Garth, the initial lift of JJs is what most people I think are a little annoyed with and I believe you have mentioned that in other threads its not working as intended.

The ECM answer is fine - I do not like the word MINOR by any means but at least you have stated a full command chair topic is going up about it and those are always better for lengthy dicussions so all good.

Collisions is causing a furor and I must say I felt quite miffed seeing that. I was under the impression that as soon as he netcode issue was addressed to a better degree collisions was going to come hot on it's heels yet this answer made it feel like the dev team does not CARE about it which I am sure is not true - but its an emotive issue and such a clipped response is sure to raise some anger so be warned. I drive all sorts of mechs and I see net code and collisions as the two most improtant things to fix before any blanace issues can be addressed fully as they make a massive difference in how the game plays.

Collisions will be the most argued about forum posts going forward i am certain because as long as we know ECM is being adjusted over time to find the best balance people will be mollified - ignoring collisions as another massive part is going to cause more forum fury.

I would humbly suggest that you put a command chair post up about collisions, the difficulties, the general roadmap for them so people know just what to expect, and why it might take so long.

If we have this context we will be happy little vegemites .... mostly ...

ECM is being looked at? Two new maps? You just moved the Death's Knell from "maybe I'll buy it sometime" to "buy on day 1." Happy customer is happy.

In my personal opinion collisions should really be on a higher priority , I mean it was already in game . On top of that it will be a huge change for lights and to a lesser extent all the other mechs. Dont you think it would be important enought for gameplay balance to get it out sooner rather than later? I could write much more on it but I feel if it needs explained to the devs...........

@Asmudius Heng - That was exactly my take on there answer to collisions to

Thanks for the answers though.

Edit: oh yea , must.....have.....new ......................maps

So nothing is really going to change at all in the next three to four months? All I really needed to read was two new maps. This is game is garbage. You have failed in every way shape and form.

Aww man, seriously? Can't I at least be the Joker? Or Deadpool! The Community Manager with The Mouth!

It also impacts: Hitboxes, latency, movement, balance, etc.

And please avoid the 'obv. PGI aren't working lolz' comments, you know damn well these guys are working their ***** off.

No Garth, I do not know that "these guys are working hard." Nothing ever seems to change. The **** that was broken in closed beta is broken now. NOTHING SEEMS TO CHANGE!

It's good to get some feedback even if most is very vague or noncommittal.

Please do something about xp farmers. It is very demoralizing.

Clearly, you need some time away from this game and time with another game or pursuit in general. If a game is causing you to get this worked up, then it has ceased to be an enjoyable pursuit (game) and is not something you should be partaking in any longer. But who knows, maybe you're just into that kind of thing and even though you don't enjoy something you can't help but stick around and partake anyways?

Edit: And they are indeed working hard. A development cycle for any code is a long and often frustrating process. We aren't privy to all that is currently being tested internally. Nor do we have the inside track on each line of development. But that does not mean they aren't there, and work isn't being done.
