you know i,m not in the field. But this strikes solid similarities with the construction industry. Like secretaries or schedulers, the people who first answer the phone are often your most valuable asset.

Community managers are more than that, they are the face that people see/hear when they view the company/game as a whole. They interact with the community at a level impossible for devs, and impossible for most humans given the number of players in an actual game/forum
