Now that in the Spyder we have a mech that can spend almost as much time in the air as
on land. It begs the question, is the Rifleman like anti-air style build a counter. Taking
ECM into the equation, dose that make quad AC 2s/AC 5s the answer?

Really? If you want ballistics to take out a spider use an SSRM (might need TAG too), otherwise leg them with lasers. Alpha when they get stuck in the corner or face plant a building.

Anything with streaks counters the spiders jumping, not sure I see the point in an entire mech dedicated to shooting down a gimped commando.

I use pulse lasers myself. Just wondering if anyone was trying to relive the TT days.

Cataphract 4x? with the 2 ballistic hardpoints in each arm might fit the bill. Failing that the Jager mech is in the works. : )

Aersospace fighters fly fast and high, that's why missiles/lasers/ppcs are not effective against them. Spiders fly relatively slow and close, not to mention low threat.

May pull my 4x out of mothballs and try my self.
Or load up on LBX and go ***** shooting.

why would you build a mech to specifically hunt Spiders when no one is going to be using spiders after the new wears off of them?

Large Ballistics.

Wait for them to land.

Profit.

Smaller caliber into the air just sounds like a ton of shots missing the mark. It works on Aero units because of their paper thin armor, not so for a mech.
