I have not had a chance to play myself but reports on netcode improvements are really exciting. It appears lights are no longer shielded by lag, and are easier to take out with direct fire weapons.

ECM itself is frustrating because it can make both SSRMs, and LRMs pretty useless. Since SSRMs, and LRMs were the only thing you could reliably hit a light mech with, ECM was doubly frustrating.

So my question is. Now that we can hit light mechs, and take them out of the fight quickly. Is ECM still an auto I win button? Or is it just a useful counter to lock on weapons?

P.S.
Personally I am sure the ECM will still need a couple of counters of its own. Possibly BAP or NARC. (Or both.)

Yes they are shielded by lag, evident by having to lead them with lasers. It's just not as bad (you don't have to lead as far) and when you do lead right, the hits tend to register properly so they take more damage.

I'm still terrorising in my 2d, I have to say. And I live in fear of any raven in my Death Knell. So yes, ECM is still king

Absolutely. My Jenner is happily fighting Raven-3L's now. However, ECM still needs adjusting due to the impact it has on LRM's & radar/stealth. Still, the netcode improvement is a significant one.

Iam playing a LRMBoat. Being more able, to hitt Ligths with my Medlasers, dont make my main Weaposystems usefull again.

Still, a good quallity Netcode, is always good for a game like MWO: :D

A hit with a gauss still has a chance of taking off a light's leg (especially as lights tend to take leg damage from running around anyway).

From what I have read in a couple of topics it seems like large groups of Ravens or Commandos with ECM are no longer an unbeatable group. I can still see where ECM would make life rough for a mech with LRMs or SSRMs as primary weapon. But if your team can now whack the lights with ECM it might make life easier on LRM boats.

I agree, and once PGI did their minor Tweak at ECM, i maybe start to play again. Depends on the changes they do. But it seems PGI goes the rigth way. No All or Nothing Patch, more the stubble way. Step by Step.

I waited years for this game and iam patient, i can wait some months again, to see how the Gamestyle for LRM is develloping. The quality improvment for the Netcode is good to be done, before they maybe tweak the ECM:

Iam hopefully atm. :D

You still have to lag shoot. Lasers aren't appropriately hit-scan against fast moving targets still. However, the warping and teleporting that has been associated with fast-moving mechs has been greatly reduced/eliminated. This makes lag shield more predictable to fight against, but you still can't hit lights by actually aiming at them.

There will be a switch in the trend of using ECM lights to ECM assaults as soon as the majority realizes that.

Providing the players know basic tactics, whichever team has the more Atlas D-DC usually wins. There are exceptions, of course, but 4/5 ECM will tip the scale in favor of the team which has more of it.

netcode still needs work, i shot a dragon on the otherside of the map with lrg lasers, the white hitmarks were there but no register, 2cm ahead in the air and it registered. that was once in 3hours of play so this patch has been a vast improvement.

Thing is though that streaks are still just as powerful, and are still number 1 weapon for killing light mechs. So a Raven with ECM/Streaks is still the best at killing other lights, he just has a harder time now killing heavier mechs cause they can punch him in the face much easier. Though lag shield is still in the game, its not gone yet. As the fix was to the engine not the netcode per-say. So, we still have more netcode fix's coming soon.
