While I have generally trained myself to simply NOT overheat, there are times when it inevitably happens ("C'mon, just one more alpha.... YES! Got it! Crud, now to get behind coverfasterfasterfasterAIEEEEE!"). As such, I always viewed the "O" key as a godsend, lettin me take maybe 2 seconds of cooldown before powering up and getting back to the match, usually to ****. Right now, I am finding that those instincts/reactions simply don't work, and to consistently NOT overheat, I can only simply not hit redline. The current "P" system does not work, please change it back to the "O" system.

yeah... changing things back is something 99.9% of developers don't want to do cause they might look silly if they change their mind.... or admit they made a mistake.
so even though it was a big mistake, i bet they're sticking by it.
so don't get any ideas about getting this fixed
best we can do is hope they actually fix the power hotkey when on shutdown, and a fix to the hud bug

Stalker here - can´t override shutdown since last patch.
When overheated, pressing "p" will power DOWN the mech, not override - creating a horrible mess of sleep which will leave you dead for sure. Pressing "o" simply does nothing anymore while overheated.
Please give us back our override -.-

My problems happened when a mech overheat going off and when its coming back the hud does not appear than i need to power off manualy and start on again to come back with hud. Not always but sometimes happens.
Maybe U guys experience the same check that maybe your mech is only lost of hud.

The no HUD is an old bug they appear to have brought back to life with this patch.

I am also having problems with the power up/override mechanic. Powering back on is a real crapshoot...it either works or it doesn't. Not to mention an accidental double-tap of the "P" key stops you from powering back up, which further adds to the irritation. In a nutshell, this feature is just not doing what it seems to be intended to do.
Somewhat related: I saw a mention of the post-overheat HUD bug ITT. Don't feel bad. I've been getting it, too. I thought we'd squashed that bug once and for all.
As an aside, nobody that I can recall had an issue with how the shutdown/override/power up system was working before. This strikes me as a superfluous and unneeded change to a mechanic that was working just fine before. Meanwhile, there's still a noticeable issue with the high heat on Large Pulse Lasers, PPCs, and ER PPCs.

Yup. This now makes heavy laser/PPC builds even less viable than before, and that's actually saying something. Because they were pretty awful to start with.
We might as well just retire the Awesome right now between this and non-2.0x DHS and ERLLAS and PPC/ERPPC heat levels.
Just one more reason to run mechs with MLASes, ballistics and SRMS I guess. Sigh.
