Since I started playing this game (in December) I have noticed that on each map I usually get a certain start spot and rarely start in the other. It has gotten to the point that as soon as I see what map it is I know where I'll be starting. It's a bit irritating to never experience the maps from a different direction.

Try going on the Comstar, free, TS servers. Pop into one of the groups and drop with them. You'll start in all locations, then.

Yes this happened to me also during my first months. Usually the new players are in one team (your team) and the older players are on the other team.
After 2 months you will start to spawn more often on the good team with the experienced players (and thus on the other side of the map).

Really? That's kind of a lame way of doing things if that is, indeed, how they do it.
