Not sure if this has been posted before but here goes
hardcore mode.
No heads up display except for aiming reticle
all Lrms must be guided to their target with the reticle (unless you has artemis)
ammunition and heat must be cntrl moused to looked at
same with mech status and radar
hv and nv can be blinded by laser to the head

Yes, Hardcore mode has been brought up many times.

I suggested one iteration that entails permadeath. That is, the mech being used is permanently destroyed and removed from your inventory. But salvage is more lucrative.
