so haven't found anything and the videos don't really show anything about it..
but do you think they'll implement the Zoom window from the other Mech Warriors into Mech Warrior Online?

I personally hope they do but then it may unbalance some of the mechs in a way.

any thoughts??

is that not supposed to represent the targeting computer? A thing that very few IS Mechs had before the Clans arrived and handed them their butts.

not sure.. I always used it for my PPCs and Gauss rifles.. LRMs at times but I think missile locks are all done with scouts as eyes now.
not sure how often the brawlers would use it but I would use it in every role in one way or another.

thats what i would guess, was a great thing in MW3 and a good way to represent the Targeting Computer...

it's been a long long time since I played MW3 but i'm fairly sure the targetting computer was the little circle that would lead the targets for you, not the zoom

I've always found a zoom of somekind useful, good to know that at least scouts have access to it.

@RedShift2k5
Those tables have been identified as mock ups and what we get may actually be very different. I only bring it up so you don't get too attached a face disapointment upon release.

One of the things that makes a MW game much more fun than a console twitch game is that you actually have to aim to hit something instead of being assisted. (the gamepad being the worst device for accuracy)

Correct! But it does show that a zoom function is something they are aware of and would like to implement, possibly as a module, even if the actual skill trees are quite different

It seems to me that you'd have to skill up in the scout skills to get that module, and then buy one of those modules for each Mech you own.

I also wonder how it will work, because it seems to me that they are trying to make sure that it's hard to deliver an alpha strike to one area of an enemy Mech. They have the convergence thing, the fact that the arms move before the torso, etc. It seems like they are trying to make sure that even good pilots can't one-shot people very often. (Which is fine with me.) So, in that vein of logic, I would think that they would do something to make sure that the zoom window won't make one-shotting too easy.

Man, I hope there is a zoom window, or heck, multiple levels of zoom.
Kinda tough to be a sniper without it. Imagine playing the Black Knight series of missions on Elite without zoom. Bloody hell...

Otherwise I'll hafta scrap my plans for a sniper-Banshee and take some hit-and-run close combat Medium.

well if theres somebody standing still enough to get "one shotted" even with the best zoom in the world.. that shooter has gotta be one hell of a shot...
but no the point of it would be not to get "one shots" but to be able to pin point your firing from a distance so not every battle HAS to be up close and personal..
say all the mediums and lights are down.. that leaves heavies and assault.. I wouldn't want my catapult that is built for long range (even if its the PPC variant) to have no choice but to get up in another mechs face where that mech was made to be up close and personal to begin with..
and also, if theres two snipers duking it out then either they'll be sitting face against their monitors or have a super resolution advantage..
