I thought CASE was supposed to protect the other critical spaces in the area it was located.

What im wondering about at that point (im using case in all Ammo equipping mechs, so i dont really know) : Does MWO really transfer the damage correctly?

From what I see on the battlefield, yes. Damage transfer accordingly to TT rules.
So CASE still have place on mech running a standard engine.

I tell that to everyone, just shoot the legs, leaving everything else salvageable.
most of my mechs have ammo in there and NO case, you´ll likely destroy more than you want
(exception: light mechs, i hate losing a leg due to ammo explosions with those machines  )

hoops, now i told you my secret ...pshhhh don´t tell anyone xD

1. Do not put ammo in your torsos... period
2.Ammo is used left to right. Left arm Left torso first right arm last
3.Put ammo you cant fit in your legs, in your left arm. This way it is used first, and wont crit/explode when hit because it will already be used up/empty.
4.Fill up your torso with weapons like gauss/AC/20. Fill them with DHS, gauss ammo etc... The fuller the torso is, the less likely the weapon is to get critted.
5.Case is useless in 99% of situations. One situation would be an atlas with gauss and a standard engine. Case would prevent the Gauss explosion from spreading to your CT. Still the gauss explosion does 20 damage and more than likely your RT will eat all of that damage anyway still making CASE useless.

You have been learned.

Yes, CASE is still useful for mechs with standard engines.

Is there a thread from one of the devs on how CASE works in MWO? I've seen it mentioned in other threads (besides this one) that CASE as implemented in MWO protects components within the same space from taking as much damage from an explosion (Gauss, ammo, etc) as they would without CASE.

So Is that true at all? Have the devs described CASE anywhere?
