I am sure I am doing something wrong, but I cannot figure this out. I want to remove some armour from the LT on my Centurian to add another SRM ( I Have 2 hardpoints and am only using 1. However, when I reduce the LT armour to 0, I still have 8 spaces on the LT taken up by "ARMOR SLOT." Is there anyway to remove 1 of these?

Thanks,

Are you using Ferro-fibrous armor? Because that's the only way your crit slots would be taken up with "armor slot" or "dynamic armor slot". Normal armor just has weight, it doesn't take up slots. Check under the "upgrades" tab in your mechlab to see what you're using.

It means you are using Ferro Fibrus armor, and that all of your available critical space is full.

FF armor weighs less but takes 14 criticals across your mech. These 14 can be in any location, regardless of how many points of armor a section does or does not have. you cannot have less than the full 14 criticals being used by FF even if you take the armor you of a section; the actual armor stat only takes weight, not slots.

If they are yellow "Dynamic Armor Slots" Then you have more room elsewhere in your mech and the dynamic slots will shuffle out of your way when you load a new item.

If you have white "Armor Slots", then the FF crits have nowhere else to move to, and you will have to remove an item from somewhere else on your mech.

Also, Ferro armor is worthless unless you already have Endo Steel, Endo is 100% better, so you may want to drop Ferro, and/or get Endo.

I have both, is that bad? I was trying to make a sort of brawler Centurian with an LBX10 AC and 2 MPL's. I was trying to add som SSRM's for added punch.

Here, you can make the build with this just click on the Centurion you own, and save it and link it to us.

Almost all lights take advantage of FF armor, a few heavy mechs can, mediums are in-between, it can be worth it, it may not be though.

Ferro is pretty much worthless on anything but a light mech. Even on a light your only saving a half a ton or so, again pretty much junk. ;)

IMO Keep the Endo, Ditch the Ferro. You will free up 14 crit slots to allow you to mount useful equipment.

Ferro has some use on certain medium mechs. Helped me cram some extra armament and sinks into my Cicada, certainly.

Yes there are a (very few) specific layouts that benefit from it. Even when using it the gains tend to be very minor (trivial.)

However, in general its trash for most layouts. Those that use Ferro tend to be under armed and lean to scouting or ankle chewers only. Sometimes the rare PPC Spider but meh.

A lot on Cent builds can do endo and ferro, due to the low number of hard points and low heat weapons.
I say if you have everything you want and still have 14 free slots, go for it.

I would agree, if you have an extra 14 slots it is an option.. I just find there are often better ones. :)
