What do I have to do to get Elite?
Right now I have a variation of an Atlas.
Do I need 3 different Atlas variations or do I need 3 different Assault Mechs?

You need 3 Atlases (Atli?)

To finish 3 basics (unlock elite) you need 3 Atlai. To finish elite (unlock master) you need 3 assaults.

As stated it is not necessary to use 3 different Assault chassis to unlock master. You can use 3 different Atlas variants to achieve this.
