Just a fun topic to think about. Currently, weapon bay indicator light represent as follows:
Green for Open, Yellow for Closed, Red for Destroyed

If i used the "Safetyness" logic, it might be like this

Safest ------------------------------> Dangerous
Green Yellow Red
Closed Open Destroyed

If i used the "Closeness" logic, it might be like this

Most Closed -----------------------> Most Open
Green Yellow Red
Closed Open Destroyed

So I always had to remember it in the "opposite" way because its counter-intuitive. What logic did u think the devs used for their colour scheme?

Green means "Green light to fire! You kill those mechs you awesome pilot!"

Yellow means "Hold up, there's a bit of a delay!"

Red means "Sorry dude, no can do."

They're not so much confusing as hard to read.

Green for insta fire... Yellow for more defense and Red... well that ones a bit self explanatory.

Just my thoughts on it.

only on certain mechs, particularly those missile-heavy ones (like the catapult), there are small indicator lights at the left and right of your cockpit (they are somewhere in the middle of the screen in the vertical axis), by pressing / u can change your bay doors status

The logic is that of a stoplight:
Green-go/instant
Yellow-caustion/slow
Red-stop/can't

They work fine. Need a bigger color change than yellow/green for color blind people though.

These changes would help significantly:

I'm thinking it should travel up the frame vertically, instead of crammed on that 2 inch bar horizontally...
Something like this so it's clear enough to know, when it's open (green at the top), when it's closed (yellow at the bottom), and when they're busted (red in the middle).
Goes without saying that when one is broke, the yellow and green lights are off. See below picture:

I don't care - as long as I can differenciate the yellow from the green... And I find that hard enough ^_^

RED should be open, green closed.

Alternate is White/Orange for R/G shift peeps.

Not OK ...

green => rdy to fire

yellow => warning ... perhaps you foget something before firing ?

red => no fire admited

that's a common sens ... most people use this ...

How about BBetty say "Bay Doors: Open" "Bay Doors: Closed"
Like this:

Problem solved and it doesn't matter what colour the lights are

The current colours are indistinguisable due to mild colour blindness on all but river city night where I can't see them because everyones weapons bloom my view to death.

Only Catapult (not K2 of course) and Stalker have this.
IMHO other mechs with torso mounted missile racks should have this too.

:D :D

Centurion does also, you have it is to the left juuuuust offscreen so you have to use your freelook method to find it. Haven't piloted other mechs with missles on them except atlas. But I never looked for it's light if it has one.

How about light on for open/destroyed.
light off for closed.

Now the colour does not matter.

It's a stop light for your missile bays.

Missiles:
Green for go
Yellow for Caution, Slowed down.
Red for Stop, you don't exist.

Agree. But then we would find someone who disagrees with something saying Open/Closed/Destroyed as well. Why can't it say Ready/Not Ready/Gone or Get 'Em!!/Wait a Sec'/You Lose?

It's always something.
