Just overrode shutdown for the first time, fired 6 medium lasers at about 75-80% heat in my cicada 2A (no ammo in mech) and my cockpit instantly gibbed from 100% health.
Not sure why this would happen literally the second I fired, isn't the override supposed to cause damage over time across the mech? paperdoll showed no armor breaches, only the head was gone when I died (CT etc where still there).
I would also say the override needs to be an off/on toggle, it is not anywhere near convenient to jam the O key in a tense combat situation.

Possible Issue With New Override System

I also encountered this problem. My Raven 4X with the heat level of about 30% has exploded twice, after I fired 2x ML. Before the explosion was a voice message "Out of Ammo"

That seems to be an issue for some people but I think it's unrelated to this one - I did go over the 100% mark but it should have only been by about 10%, I understand overriding is 'risky' but it's a dramatic and un-noted change that it could incur instant death for even small-ish amounts of overheating. Additionally - all internal structure was at 100%, forgot to state that in my OP, no internal damage was indicated on anything.

I trieed the override 'O' button once, and my mech went from 100% to dead in one single overheating. The paperdoll did flash and showed damage before I died, however.
I don't see how how the override button will be of any use if overriding = death if you overheat.

It's a question of how much higher than 100% your next shot takes you, and if your internals can handle it or not. Also internal ammo explosions due to the overheat could be a problem for some.

There's definitely *something* odd going on. My friend and I in Stalkers just randomly insta-gibbed ourselves without overheating. He fired weapons and blew out his cockpit at ~50% heat. Even if he alpha'd, on our build that would only go to maybe 90% at most. I was at 49% heat and insta-gibbed my center torso just from firing a pair of LLs. I have no ammo in my CT, and I don't think he has any in his cockpit.
