Hunch-SP, you can even try out the default loadout as a trial mech.
Customized it's faster with better heat dissipation, but same weapons.

I second the 4SP, with the cadet bonus you can fully deck it out and have almost enough money left over for a 2nd mech :)

It really depends on how you like to play the game, though I can attest to the 4SP's effectiveness. If you do get the 4SP, give it endo steel and double heat sinks to help with heat issues.

A solid Beginners mech?

A Cent-AL is a good choice as well, same with the Hunchy-4SP. Good mix of maneuverability, armor and firepower.

If you prefer a something a little bigger, try a Catapult-C1.

Just remember what Dead-Eye taught all of us veteran mechwarrior players 17 years ago.

Thanks for the advice! Think I will go with the hunchback seeing as how it has so much support!

Depends on how you want to play. If you just want to stand there and shoot lots of guns, I'd suggest Stalker or Atlas.

If you're a fast and sneaky kind of guy, probably Jenner is your option to start. Commando is not bad either.

Hunch SP is a great brawler mech, so waiting 'till they get close then getting in amongst it.

Whichever way you go you're going to die a lot at first. This is normal. Try to figure out what you're doing wrong and improve. Ask, if you're really stuck.

Keep us informed of how you're getting on.

Have run a few matches with it, feels alright but I keep running into the problem of everyone seemingly just being able to outgun me. Could just be me being a noob but it sucks getting rocked every single match :x

The trial 4SP is really slow, which is a problem for medium mechs in particular. If you buy one you can throw in endosteel, double heat sinks, and a much larger engine. Then you'll be hitting as hard as some heavies but you'll be much more nimbly bimbly.
