Hello all.
This post is just informative, so before u run off to buy a new joystick 4 this game its not Supported yet! its in the option menu but not ready.
i like to keep this post up so others can see it. I will delete it as soon as its not relevant.
if u did bought ur joystick and u still try to play with it, here is the thread with a few work around.
http://mwomercs.com/...control-config/
be warned u still need to use mouse for precise aiming.
i hope its helps.

So i found an almost complete work around
easy and simple u need to find out which button is which its time consuming but ok. go in the option and disable every button one by one by pressing one joystick button all the time on different functions so there isnt any interference.
couldn't make throttle and spinning the stick right or left working proper u should try keeping these functions from options but throttle isn't working backward. Yet.
after i set up everything waooo its really hard to play with a joystick XD LOL but i wont give up! or maybe i should just upgrade my pc.

There is no reason to use a joystick in this game, unless you're willing to sacrifice your competitive ability for "immersion."

I have been using a Joystick since June in MWO. If my team plays as a team I get 2-6 kills per match with a Joystick.
I haven't used Joy-2-Key in recent years, but last time I tried it it didn't offer Analog Axii control. MWO does have Analog Twist and Tilt of the Mech's Torso now, so I think you are going to be better off working with adjustments to the User.cfg file, but go ahead and experiment if you like. I will just add a little explaination for how I use the MWO User.CFG file. MWO's tutorial on it is here.
I use a Logitech 3d Force Pro which has a very good profiler for fine tuning as well as using MWO's User.CFG.
It's important to know that in the User.cfg, setting the Gain higher increases the Mechs twist/pitch speed from full swings of the Joystick axii. Increasing the Sensitivity setting will make the small Joystick movements respond slower and more accurately. Setting Sensitivity smaller will make the Mech respond faster to small stick movements. Takes a bit of fiddling, but you get a responsive Mech in the end.
The idea that a Joystick is not competitive is bull. The joystick makes up for lower accuracy with better manuvering. To get it working in MWO takes some study and adjusting and practice, but over the course of a few days you get things set right.
My current User.cfg file:
This is dependent on your other Joystick settings so most likely you will want to adjust it to fit your stick.
Only other thing I have run across is MWO's Digital Turn is so snappy you need to make the Deadzone a little larger than you would in other games. MWO's axii are all independent of each other, but if the Turn axii gets bumped the Mech turns fast, skewing your aim.
Also, the "C" key will recenter your torso, legs, arms in a second so keep that handy.
Again, you are going to have to fiddle with the settings in the User.cfg file since it can be tailored to suit your needs.
One other thing I have run across is that MWO originally had the X-axis set to Torso Twist instead of the X-Axis controlling Turn which is how previous MechWarrior games had it set. You can switch that in the Options Tab of the game though if you do it that way also.

what? joystick is supported man lol...
i have used a gamepad out of the box, but the sensitivity doesn't allow for much :\
to be honest i'd stick to the mouse and keyboard... unless you're driving a srm catapult or are really good with the joystick

Joystick control isn't perfect, but it's good enough as it is. There's also nothing that says you cannot use a Joystick and Mouse at the same time.

I just hope you don't use a JS to aim with.
not using the KB is fine but a mouse is alot better than a JS or gamepad.

The key to joystick play is leading, but it makes zigzagging opponents a nightmare, especially with limited ammo weapons. They by the way wont be getting to joystick support till sometime next milennia. it is ver very very very very very low on the to do list.
