Depends on your play style. For me The Death's Knell.

None, boycott your money if you haven't bought the mc already.

A game should have it's concept developed by the time it reaches beta and should only be working out the bugs before launch. The fact that the bulk of what has been conceptualized is still being developed, and bugs that would take most other companies no more than a month to fix have yet to be fixed, protest this with your wallet.

Ilya and Flame, both are awesome, yet the Ilya is very expensive

Alright, I'm just going to say it. Death's Knell. It is the best by far. :P

Haters gonna hate, but at the end of the day it costs less than half of what the others cost, and (if you like running lights) it has a great hardpoint layout. 4 lasers on fully actuated arms makes for a big advantage when dueling other lights.

It seems that OP has already gone with Ilya (a good choice), so that's that.

I only have one hero mech, the Flame. I have to tell you, it's just so darn good it's almost like cheating, or P2W. It's my favorite mech.

Run it with 4 LL and an XL350. It will go 104kph with speed tweak and it does 36 pinpoint damage. The really nice thing about the Flame is all those lasers are in the arms and the Dragon has the best arms in the game.

The trick is knowing how to play the mech. Never insert yourself into the middle of a brawl. If you find yourself in the middle of a brawl, use the speed to extract yourself. Always stay several hundred meters away from the main fight and pick off mechs with the LL's good range. I routinely get 500+ damage and 2 kills. Best damage ever was 1100+ and 5 kills. It does run hot, so pay attention to your heat.

I have the Ilya and like it. Thoug I gotta say, last.night I was convinced to get a knell, by my friend.
I never had as much fun! The knell is great, and nets me more c-bills than my Ilya! Even more than my Fatlas, most of the times.

Thoug it has no chance at all against a COM-2D with 3x SSRM2 & ECM.
This config eats both mine and my friends knell without much trouble :P

AMS needs a boost v ssrm ;)

Flame, Ilya or Wang. Not Fang or DK.

The DK isn't really bad, it's just not good. I mean, your personal feelings about ECM aside, the other Commando variants offer all the DK does (obviously excepting the c-bill boost), but with better hardpoints. 4 energy hardpoints on a 25 ton mech w/o jump jets just isn't very appealing. The 2D is plainly better.

If you're planning on Mastering commandos, then the DK is a great buy: Cheap, helps generate CBills for buying the other chassis, etc... but it's not really bringing anything interesting to the table.

If you want fast+lots of lasers, get a Jenner.

Everyone I know who doesn't have the founders package wishes they did because the best money making mech imho is the founders Atlas.

But as he is not on sale right now you really can't go wrong with the Flame or Muromets.

Both have very nice ballistic ports.

Flame hands down. What's better than a dragon going 107kph and packing firepower to boot. (Warning: may require skill)

I have a wang. Which I use but hands down it is the worst hero mech. It doesnt even have its axe like it should instead of missiles. the AC20 is a random shot in a 90 arc in front of you. the safest place to be is right in front of it.

Flames are a hard to kill I find.
Ilya is powerful

The Ilya Muromets is the best all around mech in the game right now. If PGI brings back repair and rearm, that might change, but at this time, the IM can't be beat.

Ilya

310XL
3x UAC-5, 200 rnds ammo
3 ML
10 DHS
Endo-steel

DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA

There's no other mech in the game like it. Fast with absurd firepower that can be delivered at excellent range.

The Illist Marmoset is the only correct choice.

Muromets or Yen Lo Wang. YLW has the drawback of everyone just shoots off the right arm. Silly not to give it a missle array side torso as back-up like the non-Hero Centurion that was pulled for YLW superiority. That was the best Centurion by the way.

I have all the Hero mechs except the DK (if it had ECM, I'd grab it. Otherwise you are just giving the other team another ECM mech for the most part). They are each a lot of fun if you play their role. My Ilya with 3 UAC5 helps keep opposing snipers heads down with the constant cockpit shake, and has decent DPS for close range too. The dragons are cavalry running slashing attacks and flanking. Even the YLW is good for running to backstab with an AC20.
