Total? As many as possible. There are literally HUNDREDS to choose from and choice and variety are great things.

All of them over time...it makes things more interesting and fun. A new Mech is a new Mech and it's always fun to try something new.

With being able to customize load outs looks like there will be hundreds of variations, but the more the merrier!

You can never have enough mechs. That was one of the things I loved about MW2 :mercs, the sheer amount of chassis you could fiddle around with.
Also, in the event this turns into another case of everyone using the same config (parish the thought), that same config may at least be spread out between several different chassis, so at least it wouldn't be a swarm of Atlases (As example) every match because a Banshee, Atlas, Devastator, could all carry similar loadouts while at least looking different.

As many as possible as long as the rest of the game doesn't suffer from it because of uneven distribution of game developers.

Reason: I played EVE for a time and i was deeply dissapointed by the small selection of ships available. It was one of the biggest reasons i stopped playing that game.

Since this is my first post, i wanted to say hello to everyone!

I play WoT a bit, and can say, that each faction has such big diversity like the tanks in WoT, than it would be awesome. What is more, I think that what makes Mechwarrior great is the fact that each mech is useful. There are no restrictions like in WoT that in the end it was all about the heavies. But now now, this is not a topic about WoT

My point is simply that the more we have to choose from the better, plus taking into account the diversity, everyone would play the role he prefers to. And this is what is most beautiful in MW. Being able to fit yourselv into the bigger picture, which stands for: BATTLE and perform your role as you see fit, and by being a valuble asset to your team.

Diversity leads to wide customization, and wide customisation leads to performance, and performacne leads to success. Its all about cooperation.

I would love to see at least 40 to choose from. Of course I want every variant possible there is a limit to what they can have in game. I don't think 40 is a stretch.

Aloha Everyone,

Yes, I would like to see as many as the programers can provide us. Like Optymistik, I also play WoT and enjoy the variety. Not only among the weight classes but also the nationalities. Each nation built their equipment to a slightly different purpose, brawlers or snipers.

But I feel there is a third element in addition to size and weapons loadout. History. We are participating in the chronological recreation of a specific timeline. Throughout this history there were certain events that were played out with key people in their "famous" mechs. Now I do realize that with the Human variable thrown into the mix in a MMO that these events could have different endings. This will be a good thing I feel because I will be a player in this storyline. I will do my best to bring about the conclusion I desire.

Plus you need to consider the length of this game how long are they planning to keep this gfx engine? What are they wanting to add vs what fits in the storyline and can be added? And how strong will the number of players be after the newness has worn off?

I think that including the major designs to start with and then allowing modding to achieve sub-variants allows the producers to put out as many as possible while ensuring that people can field the sub-variant of their choice.
