Between matches, for the ambiance. Keep a sane limit on the number so that it doesn't bog down servers and graphics on clients. This will also dynamically "change" the terrain at certain choke points to change the game play.
Along the same lines, add a "rematch" button to the post match screen. If everyone presses it, rematch occurs on the same map, with the burning out hulks laying where they fell. Good for those close matches. Show a numerical indicator of how many people on each side has pressed the rematch button, so people know others are interested in one.

Yes I agree with this. In a real war you would find the remains of units scattered across the battlefield, especially at choke points. Think all the photos you have seen of WW1 battlefields, the twisted carnage, shell craters, burnt out tanks 1917 era.

This could only work with a rematch option, but i do really like the idea. If not all players choose a rematch, then the other spaces would be auto filled with new players.
Another option would be to rotate map. Would be nice.
