I use mine with 4 AC5s; AC5 takes 4 crits.
The 4X can't mount an AC20, unfortunately. AFAIK the only mech in-game that can mount an AC20 in its arm is the Yen-lo-wang.

The Raven 4X can also mount a AC20 in the arm.. and it's actually quite effective

I like to call the AC20 Raven build "The Atlas An*l Plug"

Being able to fit a AC20 in the arm, comes at a price though. As the arm has to lose the lower arm actuator to make it fit. Which prevents you from moving the arm left and right.

What is the ideal set up for this mech? Right now i have it set up with 2 medium pulse lasers, 2 UAC5s, and a 5LRM, .. I have the Internal structer to make my mech lighter and had to shave off more armor than i would like to equip the UAC5s.... and still only ave about 31 "firepower" ( i also equiped it with a 1 ton heavier engine becuase it seemed weird for a heavy mech to be as slow as an assult with less firepower and armor.)

Go nuts!
As for an ideal setup, a lot of people go dual-gauss. I'll edit this post with a possible build for that, but people who actually run a 4x might have a better idea of how to put it together.
Edit: So here's what I came up with:

You could take out the ER large laser (just threw it in for some more all-range firepower) and put in two mediums if you wanted three more tons for more gauss ammo or what have you.

Hey thanks a bunch for taking the time to help me out If i do decide this load out, i will replace the large lasers for a couple other things.

Though i cant say for sure but it does look like the Gauss rifle set up is Superior. Can any CTF-4X player confirm this...? This is my first mech and my first design.. That wasnt for the table top... ( i made tanks XD)

You might run into ammo issues, because even when I ran a single UAC5 on a centurion I went through 100 rounds pretty fast; if necessary you could switch the UACs for two more AC2s, add some more AC2 ammo, and possibly have some tonnage left over for other random things.
Gotta be careful when using UACs as your primary weapon systems regardless, since they jam at really random times. Also, your heat efficiency looks pretty low. You usually want to put ammo in the legs if possible on most mechs, especially the larger ones, as people don't tend to shoot at the legs on those.
My personal preference would be the gauss rifles, to be honest, since they have negligible heat and are useful at all ranges. Downside is the limited ammo per ton and the precision required, but my primary focus on most mechs is ensuring heat efficiency, so that's just, again, my own preference. Another downside of the Gauss (and most large ballistics) is that once the armor is stripped on the section they're in, they get destroyed pretty quick, and with C.A.S.E unavailable in the arms, the explosion might damage your side torsos (not exactly sure how that works, since I don't run Gauss rifles in mechs with arm-mounted ballistics atm).

My current 4X is running twins each of SSRM2 w/1t, ML, and UAC5 w/6t, trying out a close-range fighter. It's fun, I killed an Atlas with it pointblank. There wasn't enough left for a Spider to eat afterwards but I probably should have died in that engagement as I was the one surprised. It's slower than vanilla at 54.3, I downgraded the engine to a 235 to fit in some stuff ages ago and never re-upped it.

@ Azoo/Elkfire- I saw a vid on youtube (a lot of vids actually) showing the 4X chain firing 4x AC5s. It was awesome. You loose some alpha strike damage, but gain a true 'machine gun' effect and steady damage output that is much more sustainable. I've heard some people complain about trying to use the Gauss cannon for close combat, but it does give a bigger punch. Might want to give the 4 x AC 5s a shot.
