I'm sure most players know of this, but it seems to me that a small portion of players do not or simply just ignore the fact that there is such a thing as friendly fire in MWO. It all starts in the first few seconds of a match starting when 1or 2 players just let off with a group of weapons and it nails a teammate in the back weakening the already minimal armor coverage. It's happened to me on more than one occasion, and I've even seen a teammate that takes the unnecessary volley retaliate by utterly destroying the teammate that hit him. I've even had my mechs life cut short because of friendlys firing through me to hit the same target. So in short please check your targets and have some discipline on the trigger. This is not COD or any other CONSOLE fps where friendly fire is rarely an issue. This is a game that is always on hardcore mode and is looking to be one of the best mechwarrior/pc game titles to date. So please check your targets becore you shoot.

Most people I hit by accident, look at me, and after I say sorry, they accept the apology and move on. Also, sometime it can be quite difficult not to hit friendly's when you shoot your laser and he puts himself in front of you. People dont take in consideration that they are a 80-100 tons massive robot and just move wherever they want, not taking into account others behind them. This is their fault really.

Way I see it if I'm brawling or firing on someone and someone else waltzes into my shot that's their fault.

Why yes, yes I have heard of friendly fire. Typically I am on the receiving end of that while piloting my light mech chasing another light mech away from the rest of the group. What I don't understand is why people think they can hit that light mech with me in the way chasing him down when they need to be concentrating on bigger issues.

Lack of control on your part is no one else's fault except your own.

On the other side of the coin, there's the people that repeatedly and often stand in front of me whilst I'm trying to lay fire down on a target. Can you not see the shots coming from me? Dont you notice your back armour taking a pasting?
I was driving my Atlas the other day, set up to brawl. Stood near a corner with enemies the other side. One pops out, I start shooting. A suicidal friendly phract runs in front of me and takes a pasting from me and the enemy. I am forced to stop shooting. He moves out of the way, I start firing again. And guess what? The tool went and stood in front of me AGAIN. This happened a total of three time until he died. Luckily I wasn't the one that fired the killing shot, but ultimately I would not have minded if it was.

Although I do hear what you are saying.. If you are going to "test" your lasers.. Pay attention to your map and where you are pointing the damn things...

Had a teammate shoot me in the back three times last night. But he was a new player and still getting used to the controls. No point getting upset by it. But if he had been piloting a Dual AC/20 build, maybe i would have. :P

If some1 keep shoting me in my assault mechs.. i turn arround and normaly teamkill them ( not the trial mechs ).
Theres no excuse for not seeing a 80+ ton mech who runs with 64 km/h max... maybe 1 hit.. okay.. but if a second shot hits me... well bye bye.
On the other hand i dont blame other ppl if they hit me when iam crossing firelines with my light mech or with a faster mech at all.

I just get into rage if ppl trying to make the last hit and blasting your back because of that.
IMO 80% of the ppl are even to stupid to fight at all... they always cuddle with enemy mechs instead of leaving some space that the team can fire at that mech too... going to 5m distance and using largelasers.. yeah those guys are so pro lol.

Oh isn't this when you're chasing an enemy mech in and the puggers on your team keep shooting you in the back trying to core the enemy your chasing through you?

CAUSE THEY ARE TO GREEDY AND STUPID!

One of the reasons I almost never fire my Commando's SRM's at anything over 150 meters..... because at some point, during the flight time, someone from my team, no matter how far away.. will intercept at least some of them.....
I hate locking onto a mech at 300 meters with my large laser and having to jerk the mouse back, shooting into the sky, because someone needs to blunder around attempting to facehug the opponent.

I watched a standard Catapult, with the LRM's and medium lasers, hugging a stalker at less than 10 to 20 meters......face to face, and we watched the Catapult die, because no one could fire, without firing through him.

Some of us are very glad to help you win, as it lets us all win (team play, people remember this, right?).... I will provide support fire, unless you let me know you do not want it.
I consider facehugging and blocking any supporting shots to be stating you want no help.

I would actually like to join a team/merc group/clan. Thing is though I'm not always available to be too dedicated to playing every day being a father/husband. If there are any "casual" teams that can play together everyother day or so that would be great. If you or anyone replying to this post are looking to fill some spots on a team roster I'd be more than happy to join, or if you have "try outs" I can do that too. Hit me up.

There is no such thing as 'friendly fire."

There is "unfriendly fire" and "very unfriendly fire".

It is up to each individual to be sure that they are being unfriendly, without being very unfriendly.

Browncoats and Independents are fairly laid back, and like you, I am a casual player.....
http://browncoats.az...s.net/home.aspx

As for Friendly Fire --- it's going to happen.... I accidentally gave a friendly light some AC/10 love --- apologized almost immediately, but for some reason, his blue triangle did NOT show --- but the hunchback and his red triangle, along with the target box did.......

Do I wish it hadn't happened --- definitely, but sometimes it does.......I caught a flight of SRM's from our Atlas in the same battle.

Best we can do is try....

I hate it when I've been clearly firing lasers at an enemy and during one of my laser volleys an ally walks in the way, normally I'm alert enough to move my lasers up into the sky for the remainder of the duration but it's ******** annoying. That's the only time I usually hit an ally with friendly fire. I have never been shot at the beginning except once but that was a deliberate team kill by some douche.

The light pilot "help", that usually is an issue as that's like firing into any set melee; don't do it. As far as the rest, this is where you're wrong. If you're already firing on targets and guys drift in front of your firing line, then too bad for them. You can't magically un-fire a Gauss round or a burst of lasers. Lasers at least you can save some of the full FF by peeling up, therefore only wasting your aim and heat instead of your buddy, but ballistics - too bad dude.

I've been fully stopped, laying down cover fire pushing people back off hills and such, and had dudes wander up from behind me and then directly into my fire lane. Most times I see them but not every time. Sometimes they only eat one half of a dual AC salvo as they block just one arm. It's the blocking dude's responsibility not to get in the front of stuff like that. If I'd shown up second and started to fire downrange, then yes, that would be MY responsibility for FF, but it goes both ways. Pay attention to where you're going or risk eating FF.
