So for me, one of the things I love about the game is messing with builds, but one issue i'm running into is specific to the UPGRADES for the mechs (heat sinks, structure, etc)

What are the chances that this could be changed so that once you purchase the upgrade, you can swap back and forth without having to continually pay each time?

I'd love to hear people's thoughts on this. For instance, I have a cataphract 1x that I'd like to swap back to standard heat sinks for a test run on a weird build I have in mind, but I've already paid 1.5 mil cbills for the double heat sinks, its 750k to go back, I'm not going to do it on the basis that 2.25 mil cbills just aint worth it for a test run. In the event I dont' like the test, another 1.5? hell no. It feels very limiting since I love building and testing mechs.

This topic has been kinda beaten to death... It really does suck at the moment. An upgrade should not cost money to change out.

The only way to really "test" a mech out is with the online mech lab (unofficial of course) http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab .

The armor kinda makes sense to have to change, but the chassis and double heatsinks and artemis don't. They are add-ons that can be taken off/reinstalled. I would understand if the chassis required you to own extra mech bays to hold empty standard/endosteel skeletons or something..

We have had a lot of discussion about this so I'll just wrap up the general idea fast. It costs both ways because you need to make modifications to your mech both ways. It would make more sense in terms of the simulation if they didn't have to pull out R&R costs to slow/stop c-bill farmers.

I highly suggest you dig up some of the past threads about this and really sink your teeth in, but above all else this game was designed to be simulation over an arcade game.

The general consensus about HS right now is that if you think you might want double put it on there because the engine ones alone usually make up for any amount less you can or need to equip outside of the engine.

Otherwise its just part of the experience of modifying your machine.
