Ugh, that was used so often I still cringe when I read it. Pick up the first MW:DA novel, "Ghost War." If I remember correctly, each chapter opens with a quote, either from our current past, or even some sayings that developed within the Great Houses themselves.

"Never forget that it is always darker somewhere else." -Rudolf Shakov. I really like this quote for some reason. Also Ghost War was probably my favorite of the Dark Age series.

"If brute force doesn't solve your problem, you're not using enough." -Marshal Daniel Bishop, aide to commander of the Wyatt Theater, Federated Commonwealth

(Yes I am using the quotes found from the back of the BattleTech card game)

I couldn’t help but laugh my *** off when I read that in the novel. The shier audacity of the comment alone was the reason I loved Hanse so much.

That and ******* off ComStar are his best qualities, there's a reason he's the only Davion I really cared for.

A predatory smile flashed across Ulric's face at Myndo's petulant tone. "Our goal is the conquest of Terra, my dear Primus. It was once the seat of the Star League, and it will belong to the Star League again. This is our will, our goal, and no one in the Inner Sphere can stop us from achieving it."

"Morning! How does it feel to be strapped to a walking nuke reactor at 6:00am. I bet your sorry you study harder in school (chuckles). Now hit that throttle, you'll be Killing people before breakfast. Mostly soldiers, maybe some civilians."
Sergent "Deadeye" Unther - MW2

One of the most favorite character from the mechwarrior series, enough I used his name for my pilot name.

"I'm still pretty young, but I've seen enough action to kill any heroic feelings I had toward combat and war. For me, knowing that I have to send men and women into combat is the dirtiest job I can think of." -Hanse Davion 3023

I know it's not an in book quote. But at my game table, we were fighting Manie Ds and a player asked, "Who's shooting this one?"

I answered, "I shot the Seraph." Silence ^_^

From Call of Duty by Blaine Lee Pardoe.

An aide delivering a message from Lt. Gen. Archer Christifori to Katerine Steiner after conquering Odessa:

Quote

Lentard could not help but squirm under her fury. "General Christifori's exact words were, 'If you want this planet, come and get it'" -he paused, wincing at the words he was about to speak- "'you bitch.'"

How was he going to handle them, weld them together into an effective unit? Yorulis and Debrowski, young and inexperienced. Clay and Khaled, silent and secretive. McCall, a stark individualist unafraid of speaking his mind... unintelligibly.

A quote from Mercenary's Star (Book 2 of The Saga of The Gray Death Legion). I love that Scottish accent.

"Prometheus," she said then to the waiting corporal. "Victor named his BattleMech Prometheus. The Light-Bringer. Such a noble name for a machine that brings with it death, destruction, and misery."
