So we were in a drop yesterday and the opposing team was having a shenanigans drop. They had a Awesome, Jenner and I don't remember the third Mech equipped with nothing but flamers. The effect was hilarious as some of the PUGs were caught off guard and couldn't help but over heat. The Awesome came after my Atlas. Blazing away with 4 or more Flamers and circled. I just started spinning in place and Gaussed him repeatedly! It became "painfully" obvious I was not going to over heat so he broke off and went to someone less experienced.

The lesson of the match was, don't boat just one weapon. The flamer boat works ok when you back up the flamers with something like SSRMs or MGs. OR as Murphy's does, tag team the target. the flamers seem to paralyze the target (even I just walked in circles) for the brawler to pummel the flambe' Mech. Yes advice on how to improve the tactic. ;)

Yeah I'm fine boating any one kind of weapon as long as it's not flamers. Or MG's.

Buh? Yeah, might want to try that one in game first before recommending it...

Once ran a joke build with a 4xMG+flamer Cicada. Danced around Assaults all match (I lived, went through nearly 4000 MG rounds, engaged the enemy nearly the entire time). Less than 200 damage at the end.

Not exactly my definition of "working."

Hey if you are just using them for the annoyance factor MG dakka is a perfect addition to the roar of flamer in your enemy face.

If flamers stacked, I'd be running around in my 4P having an interesting time...

TT added a rule to regulate flamer/Inferno weapons. Max heat an external force could add (outside of say standing IN lava) is 12 points (40%)MAX.

That group was doing it wrong. Mine runs with two flames Jenner Fs and a cicada, and then a splatterpult or atlas to finish them off.

Slow mechs are useless for stacking flamers with its limited range and slow speed.

Shooting your flames in the air is also a great way to bait puggers to your team (I'm the damn standard bearer!).

We were called "flame stacking <homosexual slur here>" by the other team, which confused me because flamers are worthless

Edit: Wait, the 3rd was a Death's Knell. I think a 4 flamer hero mech is the best use of it.

Exactly. except for the homosexual slur part. My teammate and I wracked up 5 kills/assist+ by him flaming enemies and me blasting them with repeated heavy fire from a different direction!

Flamers are a great way to blind your opponent in river city night, except that it also has a similiar effect on your team if there is ECM about and they can't get their little red boxes. Don't care, still shooting fire into face.

Best damage was just over 500....somehow I ended up with a guass explosion and an ammo explosion which made hilarious..."did I just kill that guy" laughter on TS.

I wonder if those players knew that flamers currently don't stack. So if they had plenty per mech they actually had one per mech...

Same thing happened for us. With similar results on TS!

A single flamer in the Hunchback/Awesome Eye Lazor slots makes for a great sight. The flames also have the ancillary effect of blinding other players when you spew them at their cockpit, making for a hilarious of not exceedingly useful piece of equipment.

The thing with flamers, particularly two or more in different locations is that it blinds the players on the receiving end. So unless they have good minimap awareness and your team lacks ECM it is really easy to jump stragglers or leaders with a lance or two. Furthermore, you can blind harder hitting 'Mechs to who needs their help most or even where they are in their general environment. I once saw a 6 flamer Jenner 7-F blind and lure a Hunchback into wandering out of the C6 city area on Frozen city into the canyon, then leave it there to be dealt with later. While a legitimate use of flamer mechanics as they are now I refuse to cause that kind of frustration to other players.

There was no lesson of the match, it's called having fun.
We ran into an 8 man team running all flamers a few weeks back? Why? Because it was funny.
