So on my catapult A1, is it really OK to just open it by pressing B at start of match and leave it open? Or should i leave it closed and let them automatically open when i fire?

Thanks

Personally, I always leave them open because I'm lazy and the delay in combat usually means death. That said, if you're mindful that they're closed, you can adjust. If you really want to do it right, keep them closed until you're about to enter combat and open them right before you engage.

It depends if your running SRM's or LRM's.

If your running LRM's, just kick them open and unload until your out of ammo. If you get into a brawl close them up to give your arms a little extra damage resistance.

If your running SRM's, dear lord keep them closed until your close enough to fire! Once your in range you should toggle them open because the firing delay can cost you a match if your not careful. This gives your weapons some protection while your closing.

In either case, you could always leave them closed all the time and just take into account the firing time... I prefer to open them but to each their own. :)

well I always run my SRM Cat with its skirt up... I do not like the delay while in a brawl... when in the heat of the battle I want missles and I want them now and on target.

the doors closed does provide a 10% bonus if they are closed, so there is a benefit

If I'm running LRMS I always leave them closed and let them do their thing automatically

This depends on preference. Some like to rush missiles out. Some prefer to keep them closed for the armor bonus.

Honestly I've noticed a pattern and can identify C1's and A1's without using the target thing by whether or not the door is open. C1's almost always have their doors closed. A1's tend to always have their doors open.

Smart thing is if you're being shot in the "Ears" and can't fire yet, close them. It'll help prevent you from losing them.

Personal preference ... I am with HomelessBill ... in the heat of combat or close to, I'm not thinking about whether the doors are open or not and I have had to many issues with the delay. So I open them as soon as I drop before even taking a step. Technically Corison probably has the best and most accurate tactical suggestion. But for me I don't want to be focused on or thinking about my missle doors, I would rather have my brain focused on other things. But thats just me and a matter of personal preference <_<
