Ok, I'm not sure where to put this but this experience has really been troubling me. I've unlocked all the basics on a jenner (and almost a 2nd jenner) but to make things interesting and try ECM, I switched to the CDA-3M. I have it outfitted with only lasers and no AMS so this issue is not ammo explosion.

Several times now, I've been running along and gotten instantly wizkilled in my Cicada. This has never happened in either of my Jenners with XL300 motor and moderate armoring. My Cicada has ferrous armor and every component is maxed out. I'm not talking about death from above by 100 LRM, someone shoots me in the back with a laser or something and BOOM my mech is done.

This to me seriously seems like a glitch and I would be interested to hear about anyone elses experiences or feedback.

A dual ac-20/guass through the head will do it.

Nope, not a serious glitch. You've got nothing on your torsos for armor and with the right weapony, you can go from 100% to dead in an instant. Quad PPC, multiple SRMs, twin Gauss, etc.

Shouldn't the Jenners die that way too though? I was just surprised because after tons of jenner piloting I've never had that happen before.

Cicadas get less out of lagshield and they're bigger, they can't go ninja as well as the smaller mechs.

If you get a chance, check your paperdoll damage readout between when you die and when you go to spectate, it'll tell you what section(s) you lost.
Also lagshield was recently severely reduced, meaning it's easier to aim the big-damage projectile weapons at lights.

So it sounds like if I want to remain a slasher but with ECM I need to go with a Raven then eh?

If you want to do the offensive ECM thing, yes.

Cicadas a definitely not stand alone mechs, my 3M is most effective staying in a group and pecking at the enemy from a distance. Also lets you weight your armor to the front, making it harder to one shot.

its maybe bad omen i think its a cursed mech <_<
i dont know why but its a fact that i died just in the cicada 3C more times than in all my mechs together. It was really hard to unlock that variant. but it was probably do to my horrible build. :P
the 3 M and the 2 A is a real beast

Congratulation - you experienced the absence of "Lagshield".

Did you have maxed armor, did your Cicada run 150kph?

I epxerienced a vulnearbility difference between 120 kph and 150 kph driving one.
And Dual Gauss or AC20 does hurt bad - i was oneshotted in my Cicada by a Dual AC20 while traversing its field of view at max speed which should have been more secure than to move aligned with it but obviously it was not.
(though i had not expected it would aim at me bcs it had a teammate hugging it so i did take the risk)

my 3M does just shy of 130, but my Jenner only does 139. ya it prolly is the lack of lag shield *sniff*

The 3M comes with the XL 320 motor. My armor is maxed out at about 39.7 tons

The Cicada can still be a good Mech but you need to be way more risk averse.

That is correct, though you dont need much armor in parts that never take damage regardless if it contains weapons. :P
