The MechWarrior games are fun to play. I also, love the Catapult-K2. What more incentive do you need to play a game. It has a constantly changing battlefield with random people and a fun, mostly skill based game.

If you need more incentive to play a game, besides it just being fun. You are playing the wrong game.

I think what nearly all of you keeps playing is the reason that you have paid for it.

I did pay for Guild Wars 2. I don't play that any more, I don't even bother to visit their fascist forum.

I do still play this game because even with all the design stupidity it still have a fun core. There is nothing else that is worth gaming right now. Tribes Ascend ended up as a stinker. Guild Wars 2 ended up as pure garbage. I have played enough WoT. Hawken was awful. I am getting a little sick of the free to pay concept so I don't even want to try PS2. Feel no urge to start up BF3 again.

Would be cool with something different, something like quake wars enemy territory, but its all free to pay now and I am starting to think of free to pay as digital scamming. You don't pay for a game any more. You pay for some stupid service and slow and crappy development. They are all focused more on the grind than on good gameplay.

Long time lover of Battletech and mecha anime.

In Australia, so KDR isn't going to be pretty.

I thus set my goals on Master Mech Module Proficiencies.

Just 2 more Awesomes to buy, and to get Master Mech Proficiency on all 5 Awesomes, and I will own every mecvh variant (including hero), and have Master Module proficiency on them all.

Oldschool BT fan, but this game is fun in its own right despite its flaws. My favourite flavour of giant robot combat; gritty and scrappy. I much prefer it to the cleaner anime-style robot fighting, that's too speedy for me to properly enjoy most of the time. I'm a tank guy not a plane guy which I think also draws me to MW; my fave combat plane is the A-10, which may as well be a tank. MWO gives that brutal feeling of big mean war machines blasting each other.

It's the battles themselves that I love in this game.

Regardless of the complaining (and there are legit complaints) the fights are pure fun and always slightly different.

Why do I keep playing this game?
If only I knew.
My logic fails me on this one.
I got so many great games that I haven't played yet because I happened to get access to the Closed Beta of MW:O.
This game got something primal stirring something ancient somewhere in the more obscure recesses of my animalistic heritage.
Plus the Mechs look and feel great. And with this being a Mech-centric game thatt's kinda important.
So while MW:O still lacks a lot of content and refinement I find myself returning to my pilot seat almost every evening.
It's kind of like chocolate.
I might wish it had more nuts and a different filling but as long as I can get my hands on it I gotta eat.
Hmmmm... 100 Tons of Creamy Chocolate with LRM Crunch and a sprinkling of PPC ... truly addictive... ;)

I don't know, I feel comfortable in a giant stompy mech, with some sort of simulative approach and mechwarrior allows me that.

I was begging for a new Mechwarrior game by years and MWO just nailed it, I haven't stop playing it since I joined with my vet and then upgrade to elite account.

What Is It That Keeps You Playing Mwo?

ehh nothing ... unfortunately...

After 2 months of playing I already quit...

It WAS a very good game
Although it doesn't take much time to make me feel like I've seen it all
(die hard fans will argue since I haven't tried every mech but still ... )

Imo the game lacks of an incentive to keep on playing...
Beside C-bills nothing prevents a noob from using the top weapons;
Therefore, the game offres no real benefit to someone that is really dedicated to the game.

If I may compare MWO to the pvp section of a game like World of Warcraft, the more you play the better gear you can get, and it creates a competition environnement that favorise experienced players ... and give the incentive for a noob to grow and evolve within the game...
In MWO, since I could use every tech right off the bat, after you played a few hundred match, it just gets boring...

The game has a lot of potential ... big stompy mech are just awsome to drive... and MechWarrior is probably the best reference for robot combat game...

But there is just no mechanism in place to keep me entertained after a few months of playtime

I really hope new content will make me come back in the futur...
God I'd hate to see this game go to waste

Every couple nights I'll load the game up and play a few matches. I can't find it in me to play for long stretches, it is too grindy, but awesome fun while in the fight. I am eager to see some more meta-game elements as that might pique my interest more, but for now, the opportuntiy to spend 10-30 minutes driving a stompy robot, hell yes.

In no particular order:

1- TV is god awful so it is just as costly ($0 dollars here) to blow up imaginary robots as it is to be bored to death watching bad tv.

2- I like the competition.

3- There are other mechs that I haven't run yet. I'm working on the Awesome, I'm going to try the Dragon (again), and I'm waiting on both the Trebuchet and Flea.

4- I enjoy being with the lil woman but I'm not married so being together ALL of the time is a no go ;)

5- I want to see what happens next and the forum community keeps me entertained.

I would ask you the question in response: If you've got nothing else to do and AN alternative is a free game shooting stuff, why would you not?
