This feeling of being in the dark all the time with regards to problems really leaves a bad taste.

My best estimate is that we are all getting the data through the same route and there's some sort of software glitch en route that slows everything down to check it over.

I dont't know if it is a netcode issue (more acknowledgement packets slowing things down?) but I would think that everyone would see a slowdown if that happened. It could be something as simple as a provider noticing more traffic coming to/going from PGI through their network and they set it to have a lower priority on their traffic settings. That way they can anger PGI's customers to pressure them to pay more money to make the traffic higher priority. It certainly has happened before with other game companies...

Can you confirm anything on Verizon's end to rule this out?
I know there is no such thing as net neutrality here but still - this would be low even for them.

my ping to amsterdam is a steady 22-24 ms, but amsterdam toronto is quite a bit of distance, I guess it's throttled somewhere in between if there's a lot of traffic, sometimes it's a steady 120ms, sometimes it's 130-140, sometimes it's all over the place 180-220-etc.
there's also people in NL that have 95 ping to the server. My provider must have a ****** overseas contract or something.

Have to do some runs to test, but the box my cable lines run in to split to my upstairs and downstairs was open since who knows when, thinking wind might be the cause of my spikes anyhow.

not sure why it was so bad last night, something in between here and toronto didn't work out for me, saw other people from NL play without issue, 95ms ping. Do their providers have better contracts or something?

I hope this gets fixed for you. From what I read in some other game forums, it seems to be a Verizon thing, which pops up every now and then.
When it does get fixed... i hope you guys would be a bit more lenient aginst LRMs and SSRMs for being "noob" weapons... you kind of apreciate what you get when playing at <50 ms as opposed to 150-30ms being "unplayable" and find that lock on weapons at least guarantee that you can deal "some" damage instead of missing shots by miles even though your screen tells you that you are nearly always hitting bulls eye (including the damage animations).

Could also have been a weather issue, don't know how it's been in their local area but the weather's been fuxored for the past couple weeks here, and now that it's sort of settled and I've got that box closed (who knows right?) I seem to be running smoothly again.
